ST. THÉRÉSE RELICS

The relics of St. Thérése of Lisieux will visit the Diocese of Ferns on Sunday March 1st 2009.  They are in Ireland for the St. Thérése National Day at Knock on Monday May 4th (Public Holiday).  Arriving in Rosslare at 2 p.m., the Relics will proceed to Enniscorthy, where they will be received at St. Aidan’s Cathedral at 4 p.m.  Visitation to the reliquary will commence at approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday March 1st.  The clergy and people of St. Aidan’s extend an invitation to people from all over the Diocese to venerate the Relics on either Sunday or Monday, March 1st or 2nd.

HELPING FAMILIES COPE – A NEW GUIDE FOR DEMENTIA’S FORGOTTEN HEROES

Home Instead Senior Care in Wexford has published a new information specifically for carers of people with dementia.  There are currently more than 40,000 people in Ireland with some form of the disease.  But behind the headlines there are another 50,000 people whose lives are also affected.  They are the forgotten heroes of Alzheimer’s disease and other memory related conditions.

The free information guide, “Helping Families Cope” covers issues such as communication and activities as well as some of the conditions associated with dementia including confusion, repetitive questions or phrases, aggression, wandering or pacing, incontinence, paranoia and more.  A free copy of “Helping Families Cope” is available from Home Instead Senior Care office in Strandfield Business Park, Kerlogue, Wexford or by calling 053 9184042.

REHAB FOUNDATION WALKS

BREE PTAA


Congratulations to the Bree PTAA Junior Novelty Act who have qualified for the National Readoiri Finals on Sat, 28th Feb at 1pm in Kingscourt, Co Cavan. Group members are Cait Doyle, Shauna Dunne, Enda Minogue, Ronan Minogue, Cathal Byrne and John Kehoe with Alan Kavanagh and Amy Flanagan as subs. Team manager is Clare Doyle. Tickets for the final, at €15, must be booked and paid for by this Mon, 16th Feb.  Please submit names to Eddie Dunne immediately.

DISABLED DRIVERS CHURCHGATE COLLECTION

The annual church gate collection in aid of the Disabled Drivers Association will be taken up before Masses on Saturday and Sunday of next weekend, February 21st and 22nd.  All support would be greatly appreciated.

BREE ACTIVE RETIRMENT SOCIAL AFTERNOON

The February Social Afternoon of Bree Active Retirement will be held on Wednesday afternoon next, February 18th from 2p.m. to 5 p.m. in Bree Community Centre.  All are most welcome.

COMMUNITY GAMES ACTIVITIES

Well done to the Irish Dance Group of Ciara McKelvie, Sadhbh Kirwan, Joanne Wickham, Leah Curran, Clodagh Coughlan and Conor Long who qualified for the Community Games National Finals, to be held in Athlone in May. Team Managers are Kay McKelvie, Sinead Fortune and Catriona Leacy. Young people from the area will be involved in the following activities over the coming weeks. Solo & Group Singing and Solo & Group Music on this Sunday 15th Feb in Clonroche, Group Dancing on Sunday next, 22nd Feb in Raheen, Table Quiz on Monday, 23rd Feb in Riverbank House Hotel and Art on 7th March. BREE AC NEWS

Well done to all Bree AC athletes who competed in the Belfast Indoor International last weekend winning a total of nine medals: U14 Cormac Byrne 1st Walk, Ciaran Joyce 1st LJ (4.55m), Paddy Devereux 2nd 60mH, 3rd SP, Catriona Carroll 3rd HJ (1.35m) U16 Amy Flanagan 2nd 60mH, Shane Byrne 2nd Walk, Eleanor Nolan 3rd SP and U17 Catriona Corcoran 2nd HJ (1.53m). The spring Club Newsletter is now available to club members. The Athletics Wexford Annual Presentation of medals for Wexford Creamery T& F for U17 athletes and upwards will be held in the Riverbank House Hotel on this Thursday, 19th Feb at 8.30pm. There is a Buffet Supper and a Disco with Liam Sharkey. Tickets at €12 each are available from Club Secretary, Clare Doyle.

IRISH DANCE ACADEMY

The Annual Dance Marathon Class Fundraiser and a Bazaar in aid of Class costumes and trip takes place in Bree Community Centre on Sunday, 22nd February from 2 to 6pm. Donations for the Bazaar are welcome at dancing times on Wednesday nights or on Saturdays.

TABLE QUIZ


A Table Quiz will be held in Garry Byrne's Lounge on Friday, 20th Feb at 9pm. Proceeds are in aid of Bree AC. Your support would be appreciated.

BALLYHOGUE GAA CLUB AGM

Ballyhogue G.A.A. club held their A.G.M. recently with the following officers were being elected: President: Fr. DIOCESAN FINALS PTAA QUIZZES

The Diocesan Finals of the PTAA Quizzes will take place in Bree Community Centre on Sunday March 1st.  Anyone interested in taking part in the U16 quiz (U16 on Jan 1st 2009) please contact Eddie Dunne as soon as possible.

COUNTY WEXFORD FORUM ENNISCORTHY AREA MEETING

The Enniscorthy Area Meeting of the County Wexford Community Forum will take place on Monday February 23rd in Bree Community Centre at 8 p.m.
