EUCHARISTIC ADORATION – Eucharistic Adoration continues on Monday next from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

ENVELOPE COLLECTION — last Sunday amounted to €601.40.  Sincere thanks to all who contributed.

MEETING – There will be a meeting in the New Cemetery, Bree on Monday evening at 8 p.m.  The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and decide how best to improve underfoot conditions between the rows of graves.  On wet days these passageways become quite wet and muddy.   I would be most grateful to receive your advice as to how to solve the matter.  If Monday evening is wet, we will meet on Tuesday evening instead.

BREE NATIONAL SCHOOLS ENROLMENTS

Parents who wish to enrol their children in Bree National School for the 2009/10 school year commencing in September should contact the Principal for enrolment forms and details as soon as possible.  Telephone 053 9247725.

REHAB CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

The Annual Church Gate Collection in aid of the Rehab Foundation takes place on Saturday and Sunday June 6th and 7th next.  All support would be greatly appreciated.

NATIONAL SCHOOLS SOCCER COMPETITION

The girls of Bree National School who took part in the Leinster 5-a-side Soccer Competition were narrowly beaten in the Finals of the competition.  Well done to girls on great performances in all their games throughout the competition.

Monthly Draw
The draw for May took place following Mass last weekend. The winners for this month are Pat Dunne, Kereight who won €50 while Marion Rattigan, Kereight and Jimmy Sutton, Raheenahoone both won €25 each Thanks to all those who purchased tickets and especially to the promoters whose hard work made this months draw an overwhelming success. The proceeds from ticket sales goes towards the Church Restoration Fund. The next draw takes place on the second Sunday of June. If you haven't been asked to buy a ticket please contact any of our promoters, A Murphy, P Boyle, M O Leary, H Roche, B Fenlon and B Carberry.
Tractor Run
A tractor run will be held in Galbally on Sun 31 May. The event will begin at the community centre where registration starts at 12.30pm. The course will take two hours approx. to complete and refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the event. All proceeds and donations will go towards the renovations of the Church. In this fun day old and new tractors are welcome to participate, support from Galbally, Ballyhogue and Bree would be appreciated. Participants are asked to make a donation at registration. Throughout the curacy sponsorship cards will be distributed to all the houses. This is the first of our fundraising projects and your support is very much welcomed.

WEXFORD MACRA 60TH ANNIVERSARY

Wexford Macra Na Feirme are currently in the process of collecting photographs and old memories from the past twenty years to compile into book form, if you were involved during these years and have any memories from your time in Macra, please could you contact Lucy (087) 1346911 or Maresa (087) 2861598 or Margaret (087) 2334776. All photographs will be returned.

BREE ICA NEWS

The next Guild meeting will be on May 19th.  Many thanks to all the ladies who gave toiletries for the most recent collection for the Women’s Refuge.  The Ladies of the Refuge were delighted to receive the donations.  Ladies are reminded to bring along donations of toiletries to the next meeting also as they are desperately needed.

WHO’S GOT TALENT ? – 2009

A 'Talent Competition' open to everyone 18 years and under from around the county will be held in Bree Community Centre on the following dates; May 22nd, 29th, 30th and June 5th, with semi finals on the 12th and 14th of June and the Grand Final on the 19th of June. There are U13 and U18 Categories in Solo & Group Singing, Solo & Group Music, Solo Dance (Modern, Irish etc), Group Modern Dance, Group Irish / Set Dance, Recitation, Novelty Act and a Miscellaneous Section. Trophy for winner of each section with a total of €700 in prize money. Entry fee is €5 per solo competitor and €3 per group competitor. BREE PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP

Bree Parent & Toddler Group meet every Friday in the Hall (excluding school holidays) from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.  All are very welcome to come along.

COMMUNITY GAMES NEWS

The local area Bree / Davidstown Community Games Athletics Finals for Preschools to U16 due will be held in Ballyhogue GAA field on Monday, 25th May at 6pm. Athletics training for 7 year olds and over take place in Bree on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm to 8pm. Contact area Sec Una on 087 9704372 for further details. Congratulations to the Variety Team and to the Skittles Team on winning Co Finals over the weekend. The Variety Team is Shauna Buckley, Niamh Curran, Cait Doyle, Shannon Somers, Joanne Wickham, Sadhbh Kirwan, Clodagh Coughlan, Aoife Doyle, Shauna Dunne, Sean Hogan, Cathal Byrne, Mark McKelvie, Micheal Long and Shane Jordan with Producer Sinead Fortune. David Minogue managed the Skittles Team of Cormac Byrne, Joseph Byrne, Conor Byrne, Daragh Byrne, Enda Minogue, Shane Doyle and Niall Jones. The U12 Girls Soccer team lost the county final 1-0 against Tintern last week. Team manager was Lar Rochford.

U10 SOCCER CHAMPIONS


Well done to the Girls U10 team of Aoife Rochford, Brid Byrne, Kim Horan, Aideen Kane, Kasey Doyle, Sophie McCabe, Niamh Treacy, Sinead Kinsella, Moya Neary, Louise Butler, Emma Byrne, Carrie Power, Aoife Codd, Lauren O'Leary, Ciara Browne, Olivia Howe, Kate Humphrey and Ava Dempsey on winning an exciting Co Cup Final on Sunday last against Curracloe. Teams were drawn 1-1 after extra time and the Bree team won 2-1 after a penalty shoot-out. Goal scorers were Louise Butler and Kim Horan. Team managers were Lar Rochford, Nicky Dempsey and Aidriel Byrne.

BALLYHOGUE GAA CLUB NEWS

Well Done

Well done to the U16 football team who beat Oylegate, the U14 hurlers who beat Gorey and the U12 team who drew with Gusserane recently.

U12 Hurling

The U12 Boys Hurling Team will play Naomh Eanna on Monday evening next at 7.30 p.m. in the Ballyhogue pitch.  All support would be greatly appreciated.

Model County Draw
Committee members will be collecting the next instalment (€20) of the Model County Draw ticket in the next two weeks from those who opted to pay monthly as the next draw is at the end of the month. Thanks again to all who supported the draw.

BLOOD DONATION CLINIC

The IBTS will hold a Blood Donation Clinic in Enniscorthy this coming week on Sunday May 17th from 11.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., and on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, May 18th, 19th and 20th from 4.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.  The Clinic is in the Riverside Park Hotel.  The IBTS is at present experiencing difficulty in collecting enough voluntary blood donations in order to meet hospital requirements of 3,000 units of blood a week.  All support and help would be greatly appreciated.  For further information log onto the IBTS website at www.ibts.ie or www.giveblood.ie

ACTIVE RETIREMENT SOCIAL AFTERNOON

The May Active Retirement Social Afternoon will take place on Wednesday afternoon next, May 20th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Community Centre.  All are most welcome to come along and join in the activities.
