Clonmore & Bree Patrons Bree Patron will take place on this Sunday, August 18th, commencing at 1.30 p.m. in Clonmore Cemetery and moving to Bree New and Old Cemetery.  We remember especially those of our community who died or were buried in Bree since our last Patron:

Bree-Our Lady’s Island On Tue Aug 27 daily Mass is transferred to Our Lady’s Island where Bree Parish will lead the afternoon pilgrimage, commencing with Mass at 3:00 pm and Rosary procession afterwards.   All are invited to attend.

Vacancies at Brí Beag Brí Beag Childcare Centre, Bree invites suitable applications for (A) Childcare Assistant part-time - variable hours covering a maternity leave and (B) the Relief Panel (to cover absences, holidays and emergencies). ‘Seisiun’ The ‘Comhaltas Seisiún’, in association with Celtic Roots continues weekly in Bree Community Centre on Tuesday nights at 8.30pm during August. Each Session begins with the serving of scones and tea / coffee followed by a full programme of Music, Song, Dance and Storytelling. School Opening Scoil Seosamh Naofa, Bree re-opens for pupils on Monday, September 2.

Community Games Best wishes to the 45 participants  plus managers and coaches from Bree /Davidstown areas competing in the National Finals of the Community Games this weekend in Athlone.  31 young people will take part in the Athletics finals and 14 in the Variety competition.  With just under four weeks to go, the organising committee has drawn up a detailed logistical plan for all the scheduled activities and the personnel that will be required to ensure the efficient and orderly roll-out of the Harvest Festival programme.  Many groups and organisations are committed to particular events during the festival and have already invested huge time and effort into these.  Volunteers are required for general staffing duties during the weekend e.g. traffic control, parking, stewarding etc.  If you can assist in any way or at any time during the weekend the committee would love to hear from you.  Everyone has something to offer.  Enjoy the events you wish to attend and consider volunteering to help the festival be a fun event for everyone.   If you can assist in any way and for any period of time, please contact David on 087 7619555

Ballyhogue Ladies Football Club  Girls U 16 beat Shelmalier on Thursday evening, in what was a very tough match, with a score of 2-8 to 1-7. Massive well done to everyone involved. Next step will be the County Semi final in a couple of weeks, date to be confirmed and all support would be appreciated. They will also be travelling to Co Clare to compete in an All Ireland U16 event. Details to follow.  The Junior girls beat Bunclody, also on Thursday evening, with a score of 5-6 to 1-12 and are now through to the Sheild Co Final, date to be arranged. This was the third replay of the game, and the girls put up a fine display to win the game on the night.   Training continues as usual for both teams and it is vital that all players attend each session. Again just a reminder to support the local GAA Lotto and tickets are available by contacting 087/6786886.

Bree Active Retirement Outing  to Carrig-on-Suir takes place on Wed 21st Aug. Bus leaves Bree at 10.00am and returns at 7.00 pm approx.  Cost €32.  For further details phone 089 4616413.

Ballyhogue Handball Club—Ballyhogue Handball Club would like to extend their sincere congratulations to Anthony Butler wh recently won the U14 County Singles 60 x 30 county handball championship and to Liam Rossiter who won the U15 title.  Congratulations also go to Anthony Butler/Enda Minogue who won the county doubles U14 final and to Liam Rossiter/Ken Riordan who won the U15 title.  The club would further extend their good wishes to Anthony Butler U14 and Liam Rossiter U15 who will represent their County in the upcoming Leinster Championship.
