WHO’S GOT TALENT ? – 2009

Preparations are underway for 'Who's Got Talent? in association with Celtic Roots. Qualifying rounds will be held in Bree Community Centre on the following dates; May 16th, 22nd, 29th, 30th and June 5th, with semi finals on the 12th and 13th of June and the Grand Final on the 20th of June. This year's competition caters for all categories for U13 and U18 age groups. For further details contact 087-7535354.

CELTIC ROOTS


Twenty-five Celtic Roots members have been invited to Japan for the World Song and Dance Festival in August this year. A Fundraising Cabaret with 'On the Run' will be held in Garry Byrne's Lounge on Saturday, 25th April. Suzanne Kelly of Taghmon was the winner of the €1000 Wexford Academy Easter Draw.

BREE AC NEWS

An Officials Course will take place in Bree Community Centre on this Thursday, 23rd April at 8pm. All are welcome to attend. A Walks Workshop will be held at 6pm in Bree Field. Bree AC Newsletter with Wexford Creamery Co Championship details is now available to all members. Co T&F dates for various events are 1st, 3rd, 5th & 10th May. Training continues in Ballyhogue GAA pitch on Monday and Wednesdays from 6.30 to 8pm for all athletes aged seven years and over. New members are welcome. GALBALLY CHURCH RESTORATION


At a recent open meeting it was decided to begin fundraising for the restoration work on the Church spire. A tractor run will take place on Sunday 31st May and a monthly draw will begin on the 1st Sunday in May.  Your support will be greatly appreciated.

COMMUNITY GAMES NEWS

The Bree / Davidstown Community Games Finals for Preschools to U16 will be held in Ballyhogue GAA field on Sunday, 17th May at 6pm. The Wexford Community Games Athletics Finals will be held in Bree on Sunday 14th June. Athletics training for 7 year olds and over take place in Bree on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm to 8pm. Contact area Sec Una on 0879704372 for further details.

ART CLASSES FOR CHILDREN

Art Classes for Children will commence in Bree Community Centre on Tuesday April 21st from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. with tutor Sinead Ryan.  To book a place please contact Sinead on 087 2384779 – early booking is advisable.  (Sinead is a graduate of the National College of Art and Design, registered with the Teaching Council and holds a current Garda Vetting Clearance Certificate).

BREE ICA NEWS

Bree ICA Guild meeting on Tuesday April 21st. The competition for the next meeting is for the "nicest delph teapot". Ladies are reminded to bring along toiletry donations for the women's refuge collection. New members to the Guild are most welcome.

Sponsored Walk

Bree ICA Guild are holding a Sponsored Walk on Sunday May 10th commencing at 2.30 p.m. from Bree Community Centre.  The proceeds of the walk will go to the “Touched by Suicide” group.  Please come along and support us.  Sponsorship lines are now on sale from all Guild members.

REFURBISHMENT MEETING


A meeting of Bree Community Centre Refurbishment Committee will be held in the Centre on this Monday 20th at 8.30pm

RURAL BUS SERVICE

There will be a new bus service from the following areas to Enniscorthy commencing Thursday 16th April 2009. It will run every Thursday from this date for a pilot phase of three months.    Schedule as follows: Depart Ballyhogue 10.15am - return 2.25pm.  Depart Bree 10.25am - return 2.15pm.  Depart Davidstown 10.45am - return 2.05pm.  Depart Clonroche 10.55am - return 1.55pm. Depart Courtnacuddy 11.00am - return 1.50pm.  If you would like to travel on the service please contact 051-389679 or 051-389418. The future of this service will depend on local support.

FAMILY FINANCE – SURVIVING THE DOWNTURN

Colm Rapple, business journalist and broadcaster will give a community information talk in Wexford Town Library next Wednesday, 22nd April at 7.30 p.m. on “Family Finance, surviving the downturn”.  Colm Rapple understands the whole financial scene from a family perspective very well, from how to use our money wisely, to social welfare, taxation and retirement matters.  Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.  For further information contact Hazel Percival, Executive Librarian, Wexford Town Library at 053 9121637.

BREE PARENT AND TODDLER – EASTER EGG HUNT

Bree Parent & Toddler Group held an Easter Egg Hunt in aid of Special Olympics Ireland on Wednesday 8th April in Garranstackle.  A total of €238 was raised on the day, with over 30 children participating in the fun.  We would like to thank Lisa Harrington who hosted the event and Padraig Long of Ballyhogue Bouncey Castles for supplying a bouncy castle free of charge.  We would also like to thank Garry Byrnes Shop, Wilton Gardens, Dunnes Stores, Byrnes World of Wonder and Martin’s of Tomnalossett for their kind donations of raffle prizes on the day – we really appreciate all the support.  Bree Parent & Toddler Group meet every Friday in the Hall (excluding school holidays) from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.  All are very welcome to come along.

EDERMINE FERRY ROWING CLUB

Edermine Ferry Rowing Club will hold their Registration Night for the 2009 Rowing Season on Tuesday May 5th from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.  All are most welcome especially new members.  Training will commence on Sunday May 10th at 3 p.m.
