EUCHARISTIC ADORATION –Eucharistic Adoration continues on Monday next from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

ENVELOPE COLLECTION — last Sunday amounted to €823.00.  Sincere thanks to all who contributed.

INVALIDS – the Invalids will be visited as follows over the coming week:

Tuesday morning – Wilton and Ballybrennan areas.
Thursday morning – Bree and Coolteigue areas.

BREE NEW CEMETERY – As you are aware Bree New Cemetery has taken on a whole new look over the past weeks with the removal of topsoil from the paths between rows of graves and replacing it with stones and gravel.  Drainage has been put in with the result under foot conditions have been very much improved.  Also the eyesore of old wreaths, oases, plastic containers, plastic bags of old grave stones, and junk of all kinds have been removed which greatly improves the overall appearance of the cemetery.  PLEASE DO NOT DUMP OLD WREATHS, OASES OR LITTER OF ANY KIND IN THE CEMETERY.  PLEASE KEEP THE CEMETERY LOOKING NEAT AND TIDY.  PLEASE, PLEASE NO MORE DUMPING.

FRIENDS OF SEVERELY INTELLECTUALLY DISABLED - The Friends of the Severely Intellectually Disabled will hold a Churchgate Collection on the weekend of September 26th and 27th.  The monies collected will go towards the continued care and comfort of residents in our houses in Dawn House, Wexford, Fana Re, Wexford, Florence House, Enniscorthy, Rivendell, Ferrycarrig, St. John of God House, Enniscorthy and Summerhill House, Enniscorthy.  All support would be greatly appreciated.

THE REV TENORS & ROISIN DEMPSEY – The Rev Tenors with Roisin Dempsey and guests will perform in Rowe Street Church, Wexford on Friday October 2nd at 8 p.m.  Tickets costing €15 are available from the Church Presbytery.  All proceeds in aid of IHCPT helping to send Children with special needs to Lourdes.

CLOTHING COLLECTION – A collection of unwanted clothing will be taken up on Tuesday next, September 22nd.  Items of clean, dry, Ladies, Gents and Childrens clothing, bled linen, curtains, towels and shoes should be placed in clean bags and left in the Church/School Carpark, Bree or outside the School in Galbally on Tuesday morning before 12 noon.  All support would be greatly appreciated.  For further information please contact Umbra Collections, Co. A new website has been set up which provides up to date information on recent deaths and funeral arrangements on a county by county basis.  The website is www.rip.ie and is very informative and easy to use.

BREE CEP LTD – APPLICATIONS FOR VACANCIES

Applications are now being taken for the proposed Bree Community Employment Project 2009/10 due to commence in October 2009.  Positions available include General Maintenance Workers, Childcare Workers, Community Visitation Workers, Clerical Workers, Sports Centre and Community Centre Caretakers.  The Project covers the areas of Bree, Galbally, Ballyhogue and Glynn.   Application forms are available from Bree Parish Office.  Important – Garda vetting is required to participate on this programme.  You will be required to complete a Garda vetting form giving permission for information to be obtained from the Garda Central Vetting Unit.  All successful applicants must comply with FAS eligibility criteria.  CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS IS FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 25TH. 

CAMOGIE TRAINING

Camogie Training for U12s takes place in Ballyhogue GAA grounds on Tues evenings from 6.30 to 7,15pm.

BREE AC NEWS

Bree AC will resume training for the winter season on Monday, 28th September. More details at a later stage.

 

BREE PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP

Bree Parent and Toddler Group meetings resumed on Friday, September 11th in Bree Community Centre from 10.30 a.m.  All Dads, Mums, Grandparents and Minders are welcome.  For further information contact Barbara at 087 2461445.

ENNISCORTHY ACTIVE RETIREMENT FASHION SHOW

Enniscorthy Active Retirement will host a Fundraising Fashion Show on Wed evening, Oct 7th commencing at 8 p.m. in the Riverside Park Hotel.  Proceeds raised are in aid of the Alzheimer Unit at St. John’s Hospital.  Fashions on show will be from Glamour, London Milan and Alexon at Shaws.  Tickets costing €10 each are available from the Riverside, participating boutiques and Enniscorthy Active Retirement Committee members.  All support would be greatly appreciated.

BREE PARISH JOURNAL

Preparations are under way for this year’s edition of Bree Parish Journal. All clubs and organisations in the parish are asked to have a report of their activities over the past two years ready by the end of Sept. The committee is also looking for photographs particularly of groups of people from times past as well as items suitable for publication pertaining to places or people of the area including notable family celebrations. TIN WHISTLE AND FLUTE CLASSES

Tin Whistle and Flute lessons will resume on Tues night next, Sept 15th for beginners and advanced students with Padraig Sinnott in Bree Community Centre.  For further details contact Padraig at 087 2935560.

BALLYHOGUE GAA CLUB NEWS

Well done to the Under 21 Ballyhogue football team who won the district final against Duffry Rovers on Saturday in Patrick's Park.  The final score was Ballyhogue 4:16 to Duffry Rovers 4:13. It was a great game of football and credit is due to everyone involved.  The Under 16 Football County Final is on Saturday the 19th of September in Taghmon against the Geraldine-O'Hanrahans. Best of luck to the team. All support would be appreciated.

GUITAR CLASSES

Guitar Classes have resumed in Bree Hall on Mon nights with classes at 5.30 p.m., 6.30 p.m. and 7.30 pm. To book a place and further information contact Kevin at 086 2237819.

CHILDRENS ART CLASSES

TG4 TALENT SHOW

A new Dance Talent Show called 'An Jig Gig' is about to begin on TG4 television. The show will run over the next few months beginning on Sunday next, 27th September at 8.30pm. Twelve members of local group, Celtic Roots are involved in one of the qualifying rounds. Check out on how these Celtic Roots dancers perform and if their performance is good enough to see them through to the quarterfinals, which take place in early December.  

FETAC LEVEL 5 OCCUPATIONAL FIRST AID

We are currently compiling a list of names of people interested in taking the Fetac Level 5 Occupational First Aid Course.  We would hope to run the course over a number of nights in the Community Centre subject to interest.  This course is certified by Fetac and the Irish Red Cross and is valid for two years.  It also includes training in the use of the defibrillator.  Anyone interested please contact Elaine at the Parish Office – telephone 053 9247613. 

EDERMINE FERRY ROWING CLUB AGM

Edermine Ferry Rowing Club General Meeting will take place on Thursday September 24th at 8pm in Bree hall.   The Club AGM will now take place on   Thursday October 22nd at 8pm with all motions, proposals and letters for inclusion or discussion at the AGM to be sent in by October 8th.

BALLYHOGUE GAA CLUB NEWS

Hard luck to the Ballyhogue U21 football team who lost out to St Annes in the county semi-final on Monday last. A big thank you to everyone involved and to our sponsors JK Concrete. Thank you also to Gary Byrne who sponsored refreshments to the U10 and U8 football teams after winning their finals in Bree.

BREE DAVIDSTOWN COMMUNITY GAMES

Bree/Davidstown Community Games AGM takes place in Bree Community Centre on Tuesday, 28th September at 8.30pm. All are welcome to attend. 

BREE ICA GUILD REPORT

Bree ICA held it’s most recent monthly meeting on September 16th last.  The newly elected president Margaret Doyle, welcomed everyone back after the Summer break.  The guild also has a new secretary in Margaret Quinn.  The guild treasurer is Breda Tyrrell.  Margaret read the minutes of the last meeting followed by the secretary and treasurers reports.  The raffle on the evening was won by Margaret O’Neill.  A lovely supper was served by Breda and Winnifred.  The next committee meeting will be on October 13th and the next guild meeting will be on October 20th.  New members are most welcome to come along.  Ladies are reminded to bring along toiletries for the Womens Refuge in Wexford. Also.

“MIND YOURSELF”

Wexford County Council Public Library Service and the HSE Wexford Psychology Department invite you to the launch of “Mind Yourself” the Wexford Self-Help and Information Scheme.  The launch will be performed by Cllr. Anna Fenlon, Cathaoirleach, Wexford County Council with guest speaker Ms. Pauline Bryan, Wexford Local Health Office Manager.  The launch will take place in Wexford Town Library (McCauley’s Car park) on Wednesday September 30th at 7 p.m. 

BREE AC NEWS

Well done to Amy Flanagan who won silver, Tony Stafford who came fourth and to Catriona Corcoran who came third in the recent Schools Leinster Combined Event which was held in Irishtown, Co Dublin. Best wishes to all three athletes in the School National Combined Event which takes place in Tullamore on Saturday next. Bree AC will resume training for U12s and over on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm for the winter season beginning on Monday, 28th September. Indoor training resumes in Galbally Hall on Friday, 9th Oct. The Co Cross Country Championships takes place on the 11th & 18th of October with the Leinster Championships Part 1 taking take in Adamstown on the 25th Oct.  

IRISH DANCING CLASSES

Wexford Academy of Irish Dancing resumed Irish Dance Classes in Bree Hall on Saturday September 12th.  Classes for new pupils commenced on Saturday September 19th at 10.30 a.m.  For further information contact Kay at 087 9981973, Sinead at 087 7538657 or Catriona at 087 7504818.

JORDAN SCHOOL OF MUSIC

Jordan School of Music will commence classes in Galbally Hall on Monday October 12th next.  This three teacher school will cater for beginners and advanced pupils in Tin Whistle, Flute, Accordion, Keyboard, Fiddle, Banjo and Mandolin.  All are most welcome.  Registration will take place at 6 p.m. on October 12th in Galbally Hall with classes commencing at 6.30 p.m.  For further information contact James at 086 8486989 after 6 p.m.
