CONFESSIONS – Confessions on Saturday next at 2.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m

ASH WEDNESDAY -Wednesday next will be Ash Wednesday, Ashes will be Blessed and imposed at 9.00 a.m. Mass on Wednesday morning.

Ashes will be imposed after Stations of the Cross on Wednesday evening at 7.00 p.m.

FAST & ABSTINENCE: -Wednesday will be a Fast day with abstinence from meat.

ST. THÉRÉSE RELICS

The relics of St. Thérése of Lisieux will visit the Diocese of Ferns on Sunday March 1st 2009.  They are in Ireland for the St. Thérése National Day at Knock on Monday May 4th (Public Holiday).  Arriving in Rosslare at 2 p.m., the Relics will proceed to Enniscorthy, where they will be received at St. Aidan’s Cathedral at 4 p.m.  Visitation to the reliquary will commence at approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday March 1st.  The clergy and people of St. Aidan’s extend an invitation to people from all over the Diocese to venerate the Relics on either Sunday or Monday, March 1st or 2nd.

REHAB FOUNDATION WALKS

CLOTHING COLLECTION

A clothing collection will take place in Bree Church carpark on Tuesday 24th February in aid of “Orphans Education Fund” in Kitui, Kenya. All types of clean dry, Ladies, Gents and children’s clothing, also bed linen, curtains, towels and shoes.    Please leave all items for collection before 12 noon.

DIOCESAN FINALS PTAA QUIZZES

The Diocesan Finals of the PTAA Quizzes will take place in Bree Community Centre on Sunday March 1st.  Anyone interested in taking part in the U16 quiz (U16 on Jan 1st 2009) please contact Eddie Dunne as soon as possible.

IRISH DANCE ACADEMY


The Bazaar in aid of Class costumes and trip and the Annual Dance Marathon Class Fundraiser takes place in Bree Community Centre on this Sunday, 22nd February from 2 to 6pm. The bazaar consists of all the usual attractions eg cake stall, bottle stall, book stall, bric and brac, etc.

COUNTY WEXFORD FORUM ENNISCORTHY AREA MEETING

The Enniscorthy Area Meeting of the County Wexford Community Forum will take place on Monday February 23rd in Bree Community Centre at 8 p.m.

BREE ICA GUILD NEWS

Bree ICA Guild held it’s monthly meeting on Tuesday night last February 18th.  Guild President Carmel Mernagh opened the meeting by welcoming everyone.  This was followed by the Secretary’s report and Financial report.  The competition for the evening was for the “nicest cup and saucer” and was won by Catherine with Vivien taking second place.  Vera Leech gave the group a very interesting talk on France and Provence.  Well done to Zelpha Jacob who won the Raffle.  The next Guild meeting will be on March 24th and please note – there will be no committee meeting in March.  Arts and Crafts will commence on February 27th at 7.30 p.m.  Ladies are reminded to bring along your toiletry donations for the Womens Refuge also.   As always new members are very welcome.

SHAMROCK VINTAGE CLUB

The Shamrock Vintage Club will hold their third annual vintage ploughing day at Kellystown, Adamstown on Sunday next, February 22nd.  The draw for plots will be at 11.30 a.m.  Ploughing will take place on the lands of Nicholas and Agnes Whelan with the full proceeds of the day going to the Leukaemia Trust.  Your support would be greatly appreciated.

BALLYHOGUE GAA CLUB NEWS

Registration Night

Ballyhogue G.A.A. Club will hold registration night for membership to the club in the complex on Friday 27th of February between 7.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. Registration/Membership fees are:  Family €100,
Adult €80, Third level student €30, Under 12's to Minor €20, Under 8's to Under 10's  €10, Walkway only membership €50.  The fee entitles members to use of the facilities as well as the added security of insurance.
Hard Luck
Hard luck to the three players, Richard Dunne, Sean O'Neill and Gavin Doyle, as well as selector Syl Doyle who were involved in the Wexford Under 21 match against Kildare in Bunclody on Saturday last
.

BALLYHOGUE LADIES FOOTBALL CABARET

Ballyhogue Ladies Football Club will host a fundraising Cabaret on Saturday night, March 14th in Byrnes Lounge, Bree.  Music is by “On the Run” and tickets costing €5 each are available from Club members or on the door on the night.  Door prizes will be on offer on the night also.  All support would be greatly appreciated.

BREE AC


Bree AC athletes return to training for the summer season in Ballyhogue GAA pitch on Monday 2nd March from 6.30pm to 8pm. All athletes eight years and over who intend to compete in Co Championships are invited to attend. New members are welcome. All fun athletes from five years of age are welcome from mid May.

COMMUNITY GAMES NEWS

Well done to Niamh Rochford, Aoife Rochford, Conor Byrne, Daragh Byrne and Cormac Byrne who got the silver medal in the Community Games Group Music competition last Sunday. Niamh and Conor also took part in the Solo Music competition with Conor getting the bronze medal. Best wishes to the Quiz Teams in the Table Quiz on Monday, 23rd Feb in the Riverbank House Hotel and to those in the art competition on 7th March. DISABLED DRIVERS CHURCHGATE COLLECTION

The annual church gate collection in aid of the Disabled Drivers Association will be taken up before Masses on Saturday and Sunday this weekend, February 21st and 22nd.  All support would be greatly appreciated.

 BREE COMMUNITY CENTRE REFURBISHMENT


Many thanks to all organisations and individuals who contributed to the many local fundraising activities organised during the past year. Tenders for the Refurbishment and Proposed Extension of Bree Community Centre have been received. However, no government funding has been received thus far. At a recent committee meeting it was decided to proceed with work on the hall at this stage. A priority list will be completed at the next meeting, which takes place on the 2nd March at 8.30pm. All committee members are asked to attend.
