Lough Derg Wednesday 25th September. A day dedicated to anyone who has been affected by suicide, including those who minister and provide support. It is a guided day with three expert speakers as well as time for peaceful reflection and prayer on the Island. Harvest Festival Bree Parish extends congratulations to the organising committee for the wonderful weekend of entertainment and activities enjoyed by locals and visitors as part of the Harvest Festival & “The Gathering” that took place over last weekend. 

Choir The parish choir will commence preparations for Christmas on Tues, October 1.   Anyone who would like to be part of the Christmas Choir is welcome—all that is sought is a commitment to 12 rehearsals!  “Thank-you” to all involved in the Harvest Festival concert!

Bree CEP Vacancies—2013/14 Project Applications are now being taken for the 2013/14 Bree Community Employment Project.   Applications for positions such as General Maintenance, Community Centre Workers, Care of the Elderly and Childcare Assistants are being sought. Full details of all vacancies can be accessed on www.jobsireland.ie.  Applicants should be registered with FAS and Garda Vetting is required for some positions.  To apply please contact the local office in Abbey Square.  Contact Elaine in the CEP office for further information—053 9247613.  FAS/DSP qualifying criteria applies.  The project covers the areas of Bree, Galbally, Ballyhogue and Glynn.  

Bree Youth Club News  The first senior disco of the 2013/14 club year will be held on Friday 4th October in Taghmon Hall.  As usual all those wishing to attend must sign up and pay in advance.  The cost is €10 and this includes admission to the disco and transport to and from the venue.  Sign up for the disco is on the next club night which is Friday 20th September.

Bree Parish Journal  Preparations are under way for this year’s edition of Bree Parish Journal. All clubs and organisations in the parish are asked to have a report of their activities over the past two years ready by the end of Sept. The committee is also looking for photographs particularly of groups of people from times past as well as items suitable for publication pertaining to places or people of the area including notable family celebrations. Bree Parents Association News  Bree Parents Association will hold their AGM on October 3rd 2013 at 8.00 p.m. in the Bree Hall.  All parents of the school are invited to attend. The election of a new Parents Association committee will be held on the night, so come along and cast your vote and meet other parents for a cuppa after the meeting.  We would like to take this opportunity to remember and pay tribute to our late Chairperson Catherine Rodgers. We would like to remember her dedication and hard work which was instrumental in the foundation of Bree Parent’s Association. She gave so generously with her time and spirit to her friends and community and set an example to us all with her warmth and wisdom. A friend and colleague, may she rest in peace.  Our thoughts are with her husband Mark and all her family.  Bree Parents Associaton are hold a Used Clothing Collection on Thursday 17th October.  Bags can be dropped off in the Community Hall on the evening of Wednesday 16th between 6.30 - 8.00. Also on the morning of Thursday 17th October between 8.30 and 10.00. We would like to thank everyone for their continued support. Childrens Art Classes  Childrens Art Classes commence in Bree Community Centre for boys and girls aged 6 to 12 years on Tuesday October 8th running for 10 weeks.  Classes run from 3.15 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.  All art material is supplied at a cost of €80 – paid over the 10 weeks.  For more information or to book a place for your child in the classes contact Sinead Ryan at 087 2384779 (Graduate of NCAD)

5th Annual Walk In Aid of Hope Centre  The 5th Annual Walk in aid of the Hope Centre, Enniscorthy takes place on the  6th of October at 2p.m. Starting from Anna Furlongs Hair Salon 53 South Street, New Ross, heading out Cherry's Road turning right at Mannions Pub, heading towards Tesco, down the Wexford Road and finishing back at the salon.  Refreshments afterwards in the Theatre Tavern.  Donations on the day but sponsorship cards are available.  For further information please contact the salon on 051-421287.

Hope Cancer Support Centre  The Hope Cancer Support Centre in Enniscorthy will be holding their annual ‘Candle of Hope’ Ecumenical Service in St. Aidan’s Cathedral, Enniscorthy on Friday November 1st 2013 at 7pm.   We would like to invite all those who have been touched by cancer (or other illnesses) to join us at this special ceremony of Light and Hope.  Even if you are unable to join us, you can, along with many others, still partake by lighting your own candle at 7pm.  Candles €3 are available from Hope Cancer Support Centre and the Hope Charity Shop in Enniscorthy and other outlets throughout the county and at the Cathedral on the night of the service.  

Volunteers are required for the distribution of candles throughout County Wexford for our annual Candle of Hope Ecumenical Service on November 1st in St. Aidan’s Cathedral Enniscorthy. Please contact Denise at the Hope Cancer Support Centre in Enniscorthy on 053 9238555. Many thanks.
