BREE NATIONAL SCHOOLS ENROLMENTS

Parents who wish to enrol their children in Bree National School for the 2009/10 school year commencing in September should contact the Principal for enrolment forms and details as soon as possible.  Telephone 053 9247725.

REHAB CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

The Annual Church Gate Collection in aid of the Rehab Foundation takes place on Saturday and Sunday June 6th and 7th next.  All support would be greatly appreciated.

MACRA NEWS

Congratulations to Mark Waters who was runner-up in the National Solo Singing Competition, which was held in the National Concert Hall recently. Wexford Macra Na Feirme are currently in the process of collecting photographs and memories from the past twenty years to compile into book form, if you were involved during these years and have any memories from your time in Macra, please could you contact Lucy (087) 1346911 or Maresa (087) 2861598 or Margaret (087) 2334776. All photographs will be returned.

GALBALLY CHURCH RESTORATION


Tractor Run
A tractor run will be held in Galbally on Sun 31 May. The event will begin at the community centre where registration starts at 12.30pm. The course will take two hours approx. to complete and refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the event. The route for the Tractor Run in Galbally on Sunday next, 31st May has been finalised. It will begin at the Community Centre at 12.30pm and continue for 23 km taking in some of the following areas, Barmoney, Ballinaclay, Corlican, Killurin, Ballyhogue, Garrenstackle Lane, Ballymorris Cross, Sparrowsland, Raheenahoone and finishing at Galbally.
All proceeds and donations will go towards the renovations of the Church. In this fun day old and new tractors are welcome to participate, support from Galbally, Ballyhogue and Bree would be appreciated. Participants are asked to make a donation at registration. Throughout the curacy sponsorship cards will be distributed to all the houses. This is the first of our fundraising projects and your support is very much welcomed.

 CELTIC ROOTS

Celtic Roots are hosting a Full Irish Cabaret of Music, Song, Dance and Storytelling in The Courtyard, Ferns on Saturday, 6th June at 8.30pm. Admission is €10 with Family Concessions. A cabaret will be held in the 'Holy Grail', Ballindaggin on Saturday, 13th June. Your support would be appreciated.

BREE COMMUNITY CENTRE REFURBISHMENT UPDATE


Bree Community Centre Refurbishment Centre Committee deeply appreciate the support of all those who took part in their Lotto Syndicate. Although our winnings may be smaller than we hoped, Bree Community Centre is €69, 000 the richer due to this Lotto. All cheques will be issued shortly. At a recent meeting the Committee expressed delight with the total local contribution of €115, 000 raised thus far but regret that no official notice of any grant aid has been received. Locals are asked to raise this matter with canvassers in the lead up to the June European and local elections and to reserve Sunday, 5th July from 6-8pm for a 'Fun Marathon Relay' around the newly developed GAA pitch and the August Bank Holiday, 3rd August from 2-6pm for 'Bree Fair Day' with lots of visiting and local attractions. The next Refurbishment Committee meeting takes place on the 22nd June.

WHO’S GOT TALENT ? – 2009

A 'Talent Competition' open to everyone 18 years and under from around the county will be held in Bree Community Centre on the following dates; May 22nd, 29th, 30th and June 5th, with semi finals on the 12th and 14th of June and the Grand Final on the 19th of June. There are U13 and U18 Categories in Solo & Group Singing, Solo & Group Music, Solo Dance (Modern, Irish etc), Group Modern Dance, Group Irish / Set Dance, Recitation, Novelty Act and a Miscellaneous Section. Trophy for winner of each section with a total of €700 in prize money. Entry fee is €5 per solo competitor and €3 per group competitor. COFFEE MORNING

A Coffee Morning in aid of Co. Wexford Community Workshop will be held on Saturday morning, May 30th in Byrnes of Bree from 10 a.m. to 12.45 p.m.  All support would be greatly appreciated so please come along and support this very worthy cause.

BREE AC NEWS

Bree AC had further success in the Wexford Creamery T & F Championships last weekend before it was called off due to the driving rain. No date has been set yet for completing these Championships. Best of luck next weekend to those involved in the Leinster Multi-Event in Greystones. Training continues in Ballyhogue GAA pitch on Monday and Wednesdays from 6.30 to 8pm for all athletes aged seven years and over. All younger age groups (4 to 6 years) are welcome from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Training donation is €2 per child to max €5 per family. Contact Clare on 087-4151350 for further details after school hours.

COMMUNITY GAMES NEWS

The local area Bree / Davidstown Community Games Athletics Finals for Preschools to U16 due will be held in Ballyhogue GAA field on this Monday evening, 25th May at 6pm. Admission is €2 for all. Athletics training for 7 year olds and over take place in Bree on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm to 8pm. Contact area Sec Una on 087 9704372 for further details.   Well done to the U15 Girls Soccer Team which won the Co Final on Tuesday last 1-0 against Horeswood. Best wishes to the Irish Dancing Troupe of Sadhbh Kirwan, Joanne Wickham, Leah Curran, Clodagh Coughlan and Conor Long who take part in the Community Games National Finals in Athlone this weekend. Team Managers are Kay McKelvie, Sinead Fortune and Catriona Leacy.

USED CLOTHING COLLECTION

A used clothing collection in aid of the homeless orphans in Kenya will be taken up on Wednesday morning next, May 27th.  All items of unwanted ladies and gents clothes, shoes, childrens clothes and shoes, bed linen etc. should be left in black bags in the Church/School Carpark before 12 noon on Wednesday for collection.  For further information please contact Marie at 087 6890995.

COFFEE EVENING

A Coffee Evening in aid of Crumlin's Children's Hospital will be held in Murphy's, The Racecourse, Ballyhogue on Friday evening June, 5th 7 - 10pm. All support appreciated.

LITTERING AT RECYCLING UNITS

Dumping of any kind around the Recycling Units is prohibited.  The recycling units are there to help recycle and dispose of glass bottles and aluminium cans only.  If the units are full bring back your recycling another day.   Do not leave bags, boxes or other litter around the units as this causes litter problems throughout the village.  Bins have been provided around the village for litter so please use them.   The Village and the surrounding areas are litter free zones so please put your litter in the bins provided or bring it home.  We ask for your help in keeping the village looking it’s best.
