Trials for Table Quiz take place on this Saturday, 24th in Bree Community Centre at 8pm. Young people from the area will be involved in the following activities over the coming weeks. Draughts on Sunday next, Jan 25th in Ferns and Chess on Jan 30th, U13 Choir and Handball on Feb 1st, Cross Country on Feb 7th, Solo Dancing and Group Dancing on 8th Feb, Solo & Group Singing and Solo & Group Music on 15th Feb, Table Quiz on 18th Feb and Art on the 7th March. Contact 087-9704372 for further information on any of the above. Boys and Girls U13 and U15 were in action in the Indoor Soccer Finals in Bunclody last weekend. The U15 Boy's team of John Kehoe, Liam Balfe, Cathal French, Peter Doyle, James Doyle, Graham Parker, Ronan Minogue and Tommy Lawlor beat Horeswood 2-1 in the 1st round and beat Castledockrell 4-2 in the 2nd round but were beaten 1-3 by Curracloe in the semifinal. Team manager was Pres Kennedy. The U13 team of Mick Condon, Shane Doyle, Conor Long, Dean Power, Dylan Dalton, Fionn Rochford, Garry Martin and Seosamh Cash were beaten 0-3 by the eventual winners Castlebridge / Crossabeg. Team manager was Noeleen Long. The Girls U15 team of Shauna Dunne, Kate Murphy, Shona Spratt Murphy, Mary Tyrrell, Chloe Morrissey, Dervla McCabe and Johanna Wickham were beaten 1-3 on penalties after extra time by the eventual winners Castlebridge / Crossabeg and the U13 Girls's team of Ciara McKelvie, Annie Stafford, Aishling, Jo Murphy, Sophie Forte, Ciara Howe, Niamh Rochford and Grainne Byrne beat Castlebridge / Crossabeg 2-1 in the quarter final and beat Kilrush Askamore 8-0 in the semifinal and beat Ballycanew 2-0 in the final to win the gold medals. Team manger for both of these teams was Betty Kelly. Bree Davidstown Community Games AGM was held recently and officers for the coming year are as follows; Chairman; Jim Doyle, Secretary; Una Doyle, Treasurer; Mary Murphy and PRO; Clare Doyle.
The
date for the Clubs Annual General Meeting has been set for January 30th at 8
p.m. in Bree Community Centre. All are most
welcome.
There
will be a night of traditional Irish music and song in Byrnes Bar on Friday night Jan 30th. Music will be played by some of Wexfords best Trad
musicians! Come along and have a great night with your friends in Byrnes of Bree.
Congratulations to Tony Stafford who won the U16 silver medal, to Amy Flanagan who won the
U16 bronze medal and to Paddy Devereux who won the U14 bronze medal at the National Indoor
Combined Events Championships, which were
held in Nenagh last weekend. Bree AC U16 - 19 athletes are now preparing for the Leinster
Indoor Championships, which take place on Sunday 1st Feb.
Bree Macra Group qualified for the National Capers Final with Athboy, Co Meath at the
National Semi-finals on Saturday night last. Other Macra groups involved in these
semifinals, which took place in Tullow, Co Carlow, were Whitechurch Co Cork, Carlow County
Group and Mountmellick, Co Laois. Bree cast members were Sinead Fortune, Brendan Byrne,
Ciaran Waters, Roisin McCarthy, Amy Parle, Sinead Doyle, Sinead Hughes, Aine Doyle, Sarah
Doyle, Aoife Doyle, Annie Parle, Marie Doyle, Mark Waters, Stephen Donohoe and Niamh
Darcy. Sinead Fortune also won the best producer Award. Best wishes to the group in the
National Final in Mountmellick on Saturday night next.
