PRAYERS FOR RETURNING TO SCHOOL

As many children and young people throughout our Parish prepare to start National School this coming week or move onto Secondary School or College/University or simply return to school after the Summer Break we ask God to bless and guide them as they prepare for the future.

Starting School

Praise and glory to you, all-knowing God.
You fill us with questions about you and about our world. Send your Holy Spirit to give light to our minds. Help ____________ to do his/her schoolwork as well as he/she can.   Show him/her your goodness and truth in everything he/she studies. Keep his/her school and playground a place of wonder and joy where friends are made and new journeys begin.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Returning to School

Praise to you, God of beginnings, for bringing us to another school year.   Bless ____________ on this first day of classes
as he/she rejoins old friends and makes new ones.
Make their learning this year  a joy for ____________ and for his/her classmates. May this year of study be a year of joy and enlightenment.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
