their children in Bree National School for the 2009/10 school year commencing in September
should contact the Principal for enrolment forms and details as soon as possible. Telephone 053 9247725.
The Annual Church Gate
Collection in aid of the Rehab Foundation takes place on Saturday and Sunday June 6th
and 7th next. All support would
be greatly appreciated.
Celtic Roots are hosting a
Full Irish Cabaret of Music, Song, Dance and Storytelling in The Courtyard, Ferns on
Saturday, 6th June at 8.30pm. Admission is 10 with Family Concessions. A cabaret
will be held in the 'Holy Grail', Ballindaggin on Saturday, 13th June. Your support would
be appreciated.
Registration for the tractor run begins at Galbally Community Centre from 12.30pm this
Sunday 31st May. All participants are asked
to register as soon as possible upon arrival at the event. Donations
given at registration are going towards the renovation works being carried out in the
Church and all participants are asked to be as generous as possible. Refreshments will be
served after the event and a draw will also be held. In order to make the day as enjoyable
as possible participants are asked to follow the directions of the stewards and please
ensure that every possible safety precaution is taken. To coincide with the tractor run
there will be a collection after the masses for those who are unable to attend the event.
Every support on the day is appreciated.
A Coffee Evening in aid of
Crumlin's Children's Hospital will be held in Aidan and Dolores Murphy's, The Racecourse,
Ballyhogue on Friday evening June, 5th 7 - 10pm. All support appreciated.
Well done to our hurlers who
beat Glynn/Barntown by 8 points in the first game of the championship in New Ross on
Sunday evening. The final score was Ballyhogue 1 - 11, Glynn/Barntown 6 points.
The Bellevue Patron will be held on Sunday June 14th. The Galbally Patron will held on
Sunday June 21st.
The final heat of the 'Talent Competition' open to everyone 18 years will be held in Bree Community Centre on Friday night next with semi finals on the 12th and 14th of June and the Grand Final on the 19th of June. There are U13 and U18 Categories in Solo & Group Singing, Solo & Group Music, Solo Dance (Modern, Irish etc), Group Modern Dance, Group Irish / Set Dance, Recitation, Novelty Act and a Miscellaneous Section. Trophy for winner of each section with a total of 700 in prize money. Entry fee is 5 per solo competitor and 3 per group competitor. Call 087-7535354 for further information.
Well done to the five Bree AC athletes who competed in the Leinster Multi-Event in Greystones last weekend. Gold medal winners were Amy Flanagan (U16) and Catriona Corcoran (U17) and silver medal winners were Paddy Devereux (U14) and Tony Stafford (U16). Dylan Walsh (U16) was fourth. Best of luck the eight athletes involved in the Schools Finals in Tullamore this weekend and to those taking part in the concluding part of the Wexford Creamery Track and Field which takes place in DMP Grounds on Sunday evening at 6pm. Admission is free. Training continues in Ballyhogue GAA pitch on Monday and Wednesdays from 6.30 to 8pm for all athletes aged seven years and over. All younger age groups (4 to 6 years) are welcome from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Training donation is 2 per child to max 5 per family. Contact Clare on 087-4151350 for further details after school hours.
Well done to the U14 Irish Dancing Troupe of Sadhbh Kirwan, Joanne Wickham, Leah Curran, Clodagh Coughlan, Conor Long and Ciara McKelvie who won National Silver Medals in the Community Games Finals in Athlone last weekend. Team Manager was Mary Leacy and Team Choreographers were Kay McKelvie, Sinead Fortune and Catriona Leacy. Athletics training for all qualifiers for the Co Athletics Finals which will be held in Bree on Sunday 14th June at 10am continues on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.30 to 8pm. Training donation is 2 per child to max 5 per family.
Bree Community Centre
Refurbishment Centre Committee deeply appreciate the support of all those who took part in
their Lotto Syndicate. Although winnings may be smaller than hoped for, Bree Community
Centre is 69,000 the richer due to this Lotto. All cheques were issued during the
week. At a recent meeting the Committee expressed delight with the total local
contribution of 115,000 raised thus far but regret that no official notice of any
grant aid has been received. Locals are asked to raise this matter with canvassers in the
lead up to the June European and local elections. Upcoming events in aid of the
Refurbishment Project are a 'Fun Marathon Relay' on Sunday, 5th July from 6-8pm around the
newly developed GAA Walkway and 'Bree Fair Day' with lots of visiting and local
attractions on the August Bank Holiday, 3rd August. The next Refurbishment meeting takes
place on the 22nd June.

An evening of uplifting music with Enniscorthy Gospel Choir and Ardfert Ladies Gospel Choir will take place on Saturday June 13th 2009 at 8.30 p.m. in Enniscorthy Golf Club. Tickets are available from the HOPE Shop, Millpark Road, the HOPE Centre, Weafer Street, Whites Electric, Market Square and from Gospel Choir and HOPE Committee members. This is a tribute concert to the late Edna James who was a founder member of HOPE and also a member of the Gospel Choir. All proceeds of the concert go to HOPE Cancer Support Centre.
