Biography

Brenda has been living in Co. Wicklow for the last thirteen years.

During this time she has been painting as a professional artist, concentrating on landscape and botanical commissions. Her experience also includes teaching primary-school age children for five years, as well as private tuition for adults.

Brenda has also completed portraits and architectural commissions and has taken part in several group exhibitions. The work is restricted to two subjects: landscapes and botanicals, as these are the subjects which are best suited to Brenda's style. Having said this, Brenda has also completed 23 portraits, mainly in pen and ink, on a commission basis.

During 2000 Brenda's "outside" exhibition, a collection of 30 paintings, was exhibited in three locations :-

Bray Heritage Centre

Bray Chamber of Commerce (Resident Artist : Oscar Wilde Autumn School)

Arklow Visual Arts Centre

The works consisted of mixed media botanical works and landscapes.

The "outside" exhibition resulted in the sale of 27 of the works.

In addition to the above, Brenda's "Beechwood" was selected for the inaugural exhibition of the Wicklow School of Painters, held in May 2000. This work sold on the opening night of the exhibition.

"Above Knockree" was purchased by Wicklow County Council in February 2001 as a presentation gift for a staff member.

In May 2001, Brenda was awarded exempt status by the Revenue Commissioners in recognition of the artistic merit of her work in visual arts. (Exemption Cert. No. DTX5615).

Brenda's work has also been displayed in the Annual Summer Group Show in Kennedy's of Harcourt Street, Dublin 2. "The Murrough" has been selected for their Christmas show for 2001, which runs until January 2002.

Brenda has recently completed on a collection of works based on the landscapes of central and southern Spain, which will be shown during 2002 in Ireland and will be brought to Spain at a later date. A selection of these works can be seen in New Projects.
