GAA Club Call - Ard An Ratha

Flotto
There was no winner of our weekly Flotto.
The numbers drawn were 21, 5, 13 and 22 and the nearest were Niall Campbell, Front Street and Martina Mulhern, Loughross Point. This weeks jackpot begins at €1,950.00 and this weeks selling team is Michael Breslins (Capt) Team.


Membership
Club membership is now due from players and members. Membership for the coming year will be €15.00 (adults) and €25.00 (family) and it is important that all players are registered members before the start of the playing season. Club Registrars Mairead Whyte and Sinead Gallagher will be in touch with all Managers (Underage and Senior) in the coming weeks.


Senior, Reserve and U-21
Training continues at Pearse Memorial Park on Wednesdays and Friday at 8.00 p.m. for all Senior, Reserve and U-21. Our Seniors and Reserves had good wins over St Eunans in the League on Sunday last.

U-10s
The U-10s will continue each Wednesday evening. This Saturday 4th May the boys U-10s will take part in the Community Games County semi-finals in Convoy beginning at 10.00 a.m. Their first Blitz will be on Saturday 11th May and will be held in Ardara with Aodh Rua, Dungloe and St. Nauls taking part.


U-11 Girls
The U-11 Girls won the County Final of the Community Games in Convoy on Saturday last. They now qualify for the Ulster Final. The team that played on Saturday last were Meave Given, Sinead Gavigan, Natalie Sweeney, Shauna Devenney, Ciara Shovlin, kaylie Kennigan, Tanya Barrett, Ciara D. Shovlin, Carla Boyle, Oral Heena, Karen Craig, Nicole Sweeney, Shauna Sweeney, Amanda Shovlin, Nollaig Mac Carthaigh, Aylice Bennett.


U-12 Girls
The U-12 girls will play Killybegs on this coming Saturday 4th May at 12.00 noon in Fintra. Bus leaves from Pearse Memorial Park at 11.00 a.m.


U-12 Boys
The U-12 boys will train on Thursday at 5.30 p.m. Both A and B teams had victories over Four Masters last week and will play Killybegs in Pearse Memorial Park on next Monday evening 6th May at 7.00 p.m. (A Team).


U-14 Girls
The U-14 Girls had a victory over Kilcar in their first game of the League on Thursday evening. Team and scorers were Bernadine McCabe, Jacinta Feeney, Aoife Watters (1-00), Catherine Herrity, Catiorna Feeney, Martina McHugh, Meave O'Donnell, Michelle Gallagher, Aisling Corcoran (2-01), Stepheanie Bennett (1-00), Carol Breslin (0-01), Loiise Mckenna, Kelly Bennett (2-00), Carmel Boyle (1-05) Deana Sweeney (2-00). Subs Mairead Slowey, Grainne Boyle, Ciara . Shovlin, Shauna sweeney, Sinead Concarr, Tanya Sweeney. They are due to play Aodh Rua in Ballyshannon on to-night (Thursday) at 7.00 p.m.


Comprehensive Schhol U-14 Girls Gaelic
The St. Columbas Comprehensive Schhol U-14 Girls Gaelic team have qualified for the County semi-final against the Gael Scoil in Letterkenny - the winners to play Killybegs in the County Final. This is the Ardara U-14 team and the school team is under the management of Manus Brennan. The School Senior Girls have progressed well and have qualified for the Ulster semi-finals. This team is also made of many of the Ardara Girls. We wish all concerned from the Club - the best of luck.

U-16s
The U-16s overcame Dungloe on Friday evening last in their last game of the League on a score of (4-13) to (1-09). They begin the Championship in mid May.


U-16 and Senior Girls
The U-16 and Senior Girls will train on Thursday 2nd May at 6.30 p.m. in Pearse Memorial Park.

Minors
The Minors start off their season when they commence their Campaign on Wednesday May 8th when they play Kilcar at home at 7.30 p.m. All Minors are asked to report to Training on Wednesday and Friday evenings

The Club has its Website on air at the moment. Everything that is going on at the moment can be viewed at the site, Matches played, Fixtures, Underage, History, News, Picture Gallery etc. Many of our exiles away from home would like to connect to the site to catch up on the day to day affairs can connect to www.geocities.com/ardaragaa


Coaching Session
A very successful Coaching Session for all underage Managers took place in Pearse Memorial Park on Satruday under the guidance of Michael McGeehan. All Managers from U-10 to Minor Teams were present.


Goalkeepers Coaching
A Coaching Session will be held on this coming Saturday 4th May and will be given by Senior Goalkeeper Conor Curran. This session is for all underage goalkeepers (boys and girls) and all are asked to attend.


Hurling Coaching
Underage Hurling Coaching has commenced in the Rossa Club and players U-14 years from the Club are invited to attend. The training takes place on Saturdays at 12.30 p.m. in Dooey and anyone interested should contact Aidan Hennessy at (075) 44196


Congratulations
The Club would like to congratulate Patrick Gallagher (Moagh) on winning a Vocational Schools Medal with Donegal on Sunday last. Patrick acquitted himself very well on the Team. Also to John J O'Shea who managed the team.


Gear
The Club gear is now on sale for both adults and children. Polo shirts, Fleeces, Tracksuit bottoms and jackets are available. We are hoping that all Managers will encourage their players to be Kitted out in the Club gear when they travel to matches. All are reasonable priced. Gemma will be at the shop selling on Wednesday and Thursday evenings for those who wish to purchase.


Holiday
The Holiday will take place in October (depart 26th for 7 days) to Playa del Inglis in the Canaries. A deposit of €100.00 is requested to be paid on or before this coming Sunday 27th April. Deposit to be paid to John McConnell or Ann McGhee. The first 40 names secure a place on the trip. All are welcome including families.


Club History
The Club are currently putting together the Club History. There is quite an amount of work involved in this. A committee are currently at the moment working on this and hope to have the book on sale for Christmas of this year. We hope that the GAA people in the Parish and outside and indeed those living away from home will co-operate with the committee in researching the work. We are looking for old photographs, team line-outs programmes etc of the early years and indeed anything that may be of interest. This is going to be a once off publication so we do not want anything to be left out. Anything that will be sent to us will be copied and returned. You may contact any of the committee or send and data to Mary Kelly (087) 6878614, Dromore Lr, Mountcharles, John McConnell (087) 6370074, Edergole, Ardara, or James McHugh (087) 2222277, Laconnell, Ardara. Training continues at Pearse Memorial Park on Wednesdays and Friday at 8.00 p.m. for all Senior, Reserve and U-21. The Championship draw drew Ardara and St Eunans yet again! In both Reserve and Seniors. Our Seniors and Reserves play St. Eunans this Sunday in Letterkenny.


U-10s
The U-10s have begun training and will continue each Wednesday evening Last Saturday they took part in the U-10 Community Games Competition in Convoy. They are now through to the semi-final stages which will take place in Convoy on Saturday 4th May. Their first Blitz will be on Saturday 11th May and will be held in Ardara.


U-12 Girls
The U-12 girls will train on this Friday evening 26th April at 6.00 p.m. They had good victories last week. They beat Aodh Rua on Wednesday evening last on a score of (5-02) to (1-04) and on Saturday they beat Bundoran on a score of (7-10) to (1-05). This coming Saturday 27th April they play Killybegs at 12.00 noon in Pearse Memorial Park. The team that played on Saturday last were Ciara Shovlin, Paula Molloy, Lorraine Boyle, Natalie Sweeney, Shauna Sweeney (1-00), Nollaig Mac Carthaigh, Sarah Kennedy, Leanne Sweeney, Sinead Concarr (0-01), Tanya Barrett (3-05), Sarah Connolly (1-01), Kerry McGuinness (1-00), Oral Heena (1-00), Ciara D Shovlin (1-02), Karen Craig. Subs used Meave Given, Rebecca McHugh, Tanya Sweeney and Sinead Gavigan.


U-12 Boys
The U-12 boys will train on Thursday at 5.30 p.m. Both teams had victories over Aodh Rua last week and will play Bundoran in Pearse Memorial Park on next Monday evening 29th April at 6.00 p.m. (B Team) and 7.00 p.m. (A Team).


U-14 Girls
The U-14 Girls will play Kiclar in their first game on to-night (Thursday) at 6.45 p.m. in Pearse Memorial Park. They continue training on Tuesday at 7.00 p.m.


U-16s
The U-16s overcame Four Masters on Friday evening last. They now play Dungloe on Friday evening next 26th at 7.00 p.m. in Pearse Memorial Park. This is their final League game before the Championship.


U-16 and Senior Girls
The U-16 and Senior Girls will train on (tonight) Thursday 25th April at 6.30 p.m. in Pearse Memorial Park.

Managers Coaching Session
A Coaching Session for all underage Managers takes place in Pearse Memorial Park this Satruday 27th April at 11.00 a.m. All Managers from U-10 to Minor Teams are asked to attend.

The U-12 boys will train on Thursday at 5.30 p.m. and will play Four Masters in Donegal Town on next Monday evening 22nd April at 6.00 p.m. (B Team) and 7.00 p.m. (A Team). Bus leaves at 5.00 p.m. from Pearse Memorial Park.

The Senior girls have begun training and will train this Thursday evening 18th April at 7.30 p.m.

A very enjoyable Coaching Session was held on Saturday last and was given by Senior Goalkeeper Conor Curran. The next session will be held on Saturday 27th April.

The Club would like to wish Brendan Boyle the very best of luck when he lines out the Donegal U-21 Team against Cavan on Saturday next.
