GAA Club Call - Ard An Ratha

Flotto
The winner of our weekly Flotto was Rose Ward, Cronkeerin and we wish her many happy days of spending her €6,150.00.
The numbers drawn on Saturday night last were 2, 4, 8 and 10. This weeks Jackpot will begin at €1,500.00 and this weeks selling Team is James McHughs .


History
The History of the Club is progressing very well. The committee have now reached an advanced stage. There are still pictures and other information which is required for the early years. We are currently looking for two pictures that someone might be able to locate for us - 1954 Minor Team and the 1976 U-14 County Champions. The Committee is of the following - George Doherty, Mary Kelly, James McHugh, Tom O'Donnell, John McConnell, John M. O'Donnell and James McBrearty.


Coaching Session
Coaching Officer John McConnell has organised Coaching Session which will take place in the Community Centre which will begin on Saturday 1st February. These Sessions will involve the skills of the Game. It will be opened to U-8s, U-10s and U-12s. The following age groups are asked to attend at the following times U-8 (Born 1994/95/96) at 11.00 a.m., U-10 (Born 1993/1994) at 12.00 noon, U-12 (Born 1991/1992) at 5.30 p.m. The bus will pick up at 10.30 a.m. at Kilclooney for U-8s and U-10s and return at 1.30 p.m. The Bus will pick up for U-12s at 5.00 p.m. and return at 7.00 p.m. The Fee will be €1.00 (to cover the Community Centre). Minor Board
The Minor Board will hold their first meeting on Wednesday 29th at 9.00 p.m. in Dohertys. All Managers are asked to be present.


Poker Classic
The Minor Board are organising a Poker Classic which will be held in the Central Bar on next Friday 7th February beginning at 8.00 p.m.


Honoured
Last Saturday night in the Abbey Hotel Anthony Molloy and Donie McCole were honoured as part of the Donegal U-21 Team which won the All-Ireland in 1982.

The History of the Club is progressing very well. The committee have now reached an advanced stage. There are still pictures and other information which is required for the early years. We would hope that people would give the Committee and other information that they may have found over Christmas as they will soon be completing the compilation.


U-10 and U-12 Parish League Videos
The U-10 and U-12 Parish League Videos are on sale. Anyone interested in purchasing a Video can do so by contacting Stephen McCahill.


Minor Board A.G.M.
The Minor Board A.G.M. will take place in Dohertys on this coming Saturday Night 18th January at 8.30 p.m. and not on Thursday night as previously planned. We hope to see all the underage Managers for the coming year and any parent who may wish to help out with Teams.


Senior Board A.G.M.
The Senior Board A.G.M. of the Club takes place on Sunday 19th January at 2.30 p.m. in the Community Centre. All members and players are invited to attend.


Dinner / Dance Photo's
John McConnell took many pictures at the annual Dinner and Dance. Anyone wishing to view the pictures may do so on the Club website by logging into www.geocities.com/ardaragaa Fixtures, matches played, history and pictures can be viewed on the site as well as much more.


Donegal G.A.A. Banquet
The Donegal G.A.A. Banquet will take place in the Abbey Hotel in Donegal Town on Saturday 26th January. Anyone wishing to attend my book their Tickets with James McHugh. The Donegal U-21 Team on 1982 of which Anthony Molloy and Donie McCole were part of that won the All-Ireland U-21 will be honoured on the night.

There has been no winner of our weekly Flotto for the past number of weeks.
On the week ending 21st December the numbers drawn were 11, 13, 16 and 18 and the nearest were Francie Cannon, Glencolmcille and C. McNelis, Cloughboy.

On the week ending 28th December the numbers drawn were 1, 4, 10 and 24 and the nearest were Aoife Gallagher, Portnoo Road and Bernard Mulkerrins.

The numbers drawn on Saturday night last were 5, 13, 14 and 22 and the nearest were Stephen Gildea, Drimaha and Cait McElwaine c/o George Doherty, Hillhead. This weeks jackpot stands at €5,850.00 and this weeks selling Team is Michael Breslin. Next weeks Team is Mary Kellys Team.

Dinner and Dance
The annual Dinner and Dance took place in the Blue Haven on Sunday 30th December. Over 300 Guests enjoyed the annual event. Many of our Gaels home on holidays joined with their families at the event. Many awards were made on the night. A presentation was made to the 1952 Ardara 1952 Minor Captain Tomas Breslin on behalf of the Team. County medals were presented to the Ardara Senior Ladies team who this year win the County Gaeltacht and the Intermediate Championship. The Molloy family of Leamagowra were honoured for their contribution to the G.A.A. Many of the family came home for the event. Senior Player of the year went to Joseph Doherty, Reserve player of the Year to Seamus Byrne, Minor Player of the Year to Patrick McGill and Lady Player of the Year to Mairead Watters. Packie Maguire received the Charlie Bennett Hall of Fame Memorial Award. Appreciation Awards were made to Brendan Boyle who captured a Sigerson Cup medal, Patrick Gallagher (Moagh) a Vocational School medal, Charlene McHugh and Mairead Gallagher for playing for Donegal Ladies in an All Ireland Final in Croke Park. Anthony Molloy also received an Apprection from the Club. M.C. for the night was Bart Whelan assisted by John M. O'Donnell. Music was provided by Paul and Mary B and a great night was had by all.

The Club would like to congratulate neighbours N. Conaill on capturing the County League before Christmas.
