BRIDE ROVERS 0-14   -  Glanmire 1-06

At Carrignavar on Monday evening last our Junior ‘A’ Football team got their championship off to a winning start with a five point win over Glanmire. This was a close enough game. In the first half we led all the way and had a three point lead 0-4 to 0-1 after twenty minutes. Glanmire finished the half stronger and we led by just the minimum, 0-5 to 0-4, at the break. Hughie Kelleher increased our lead to two on the resumption. Then disaster struck when Glanmire got a goal followed by a point from a free to lead by 1-5 to 0-6. In fairness our lads responded well and a succession of points put us well ahead. Our defence tightened up and in the remaining time Glanmire scored just one point. In the end we won by 0-14 to 1-6. We hadn’t a huge amount of preparation for this game so well done lads on winning the first round.
