A Virtual Studio
Jan Punter & Brigit Egging

Jan/Brigit collage 2000
In May 2000 the exhibition "A Virtual Studio" opened in Neede, Holland. In October 2000 this show traveled to Boyle, Ireland.
Jan and Brigit met as students in Enschede, Holland and a close friendship developed from there. They exchanged their work via the internet and their mutual interest and co-operation led to the mounting of "A Virtual Studio".
Jan is a computer programmer by profession but is also engaged in making both visual and audio art. His way of working with visual material very much resembles the way he works with sound. Both may be best described as sculpturing raw material into a new meaning.
For the Virtual Studio series Jan Punter used a scanner as a photo camera to get pictures of objects from the real world into the computer. During the scanning process the objects were moved sometimes as to manipulate the shape. Thereupon the image was treated until it found it's final form.
