Brittas Bay Sea Angling

 

Catch: Codling, Dogfish, Dab, Plaice, Coalfish & Bass.
Location: Brittas Bay can be found at Ballinapark.
Description: Fish caught here are Codling, Dab, Dogfish, small Plaice, Coalfish with the odd Bass, with the most productive method being beach fishing.
Season: All year around, although the best time of year is between May to September.
Costs: No cost for offshore fishing. Boat charter will cost between €300 - €400 per boat suitable for 4-8 people.
Methods: Spinning and bottom fishing with Mackerel strips.

Sea & Shore

County Wicklow's 51 kilometres of coastline is extensively used for local, national and international shore fishing competitions. The World Surf Casting Championship of 1996 and the European Shore Angling Championships of 1997 were held along the beaches of Wicklow producing some excellent catches. Small boat fishing is becoming increasingly popular and extremely productive in Co. Wicklow. Small boats can be launched both in Greystones and Wicklow Harbour. Silver Strand (Early in the year) Bass, codling, dogfish, dab, flounder, plaice, spurdog (night) and whiting.
Brittas Bay & Ennereilly Beaches Night fishing for bass, codling, dogfish, dab, flounder, plaice, ray, smoothound and whiting.
Arklow Harbour Piers Bass, codling, conger, dogfish and flounder.

Note: The Bass bye-laws; it is illegal to keep a fish under 40cm, only two bass per rod, per day and it is illegal to catch bass between 15th May and 15th June.
