Security has been tightened around convicted murderer Catherine Nevin after she received death threats in the mail.
Garda' in Wicklow town are trying to get to the bottom of the hate mail which is thought to have come from the area.
Garda' confirmed this week that Mrs Nevin (52), who last Friday lost a fight to be allowed appeal against her conviction for the murder of her husband Tom, has recently received at least one death threat by post.
'A letter was sent to her in Mountjoy', explained Superintendent Denis Roche to the Wicklow People, 'and we're investigating it at the moment.'
Meanwhile, as the Nevin family in Galway mark this week's seventh anniversary (March 19) of the death of Tom, Catherine Nevin is said to be confident that the appeals process will eventually go her way and is determined to challenge last Friday's judgement in the Supreme Court.
'She is quite adamant that she is innocent', a prison source said.
'She was very hopeful about the appeal and was adamant that those points of law were going to get her off, so it was a setback all right.'
Following the judgement on Friday, in which the Court of Criminal Appeal refused her appeal on all grounds, she was put on 'suicide watch' .
Afterwards, Tom's brothers Patrick, William, Noel, and Sean and sisters Mary, Nora and Margaret - released a brief statement to say that the judgement had 'brought us some element of closure as regards our brother's death. We believe that justice has been done.'
Meanwhile, the investigation into who actually pulled the trigger to kill Tom Nevin on his wife's instruction is currently 'not active' but remains open, according to Detective Sergeant Fergus O'Brien. It would be up to Catherine Nevin herself as to whether or not she eventually wants to help with this aspect of the case, he added.
