Public meeting in Redcross

Wicklow People 10th July 2003

Area under attack from several unsound developments

ANGRY RESIDENTS of the Redcross and surrounding areas will come together this Friday night (11th July 2003) for a public meeting.

The gathering takes place in the sports centre at the River Valley in the village at 8pm and all who live within a 25-mile radius of Redcross are welcome to attend. A number of issues affecting the district will be discussed, including the incinerator planned for the area; the landfill which recently got the go-ahead at Ballynagran; the quarry proposed at Brittas Bay; and the problem with an existing waste facility at Johnstown North, Arklow.

All of these areas are within a few miles of the village of Redcross and concern is growing about the effect they might have on this section of the east coast.

Expert speakers will be in attendance and local TDs and councillors have also been invited.
