Remembering Omagh

Home Page

On the 16th April 1999, our school planted some trees in memory of the dead and wounded from Omagh. The school had a memorial service for the people of Omagh.

The baby infants held branches of an evergreen tree and the high infants held crosses and the Communion class held self made drawings of candles. Mrs. Dunne, the Deputy Principal, said a few words. Seán Masterson read a reading. Children from 5th class and a child from 4th class read a reading as well. It was a wet Friday so the school decided to plant the trees on the following Monday. Every child wore white ribbons on their jumpers and coats. It was a lovely memorial service for the dead and wounded.
