NEWS - Dateline
. . . . . December 31st, 2003
It’s that time of year now - - - -
when it won’t be that time of year anymore!
(It’s called
‘Crosbie-logic’.)
The Christmas period has come and gone as
quickly as a Joe Lakes strike on goal.
Since the last report we’ve had the
big Christmas Party.
And fortunately we had use of a digital
camera (thanks Mick) to capture all the gory details.
Whether it was the weather (which was crap
on the day), the terrifying publicity generated by the website,
the threat of steep financial fines from Banker John, the sheer
narcissistic nature of most Old Boys who fancied immortality
(and the chance to impress their friends/colleagues around the
world) but the turnout on the great day was the best of the
year.
All told we reckoned that 26 players trooped off the
muddy pitch after a nail-biting finish.
I do not propose to spend much more time
describing those scenes, preferring instead to let the pictures
speak for themselves.
We managed to capture approx 70 images of
the pre-match activities, and the aprés match bash in
Quinlans.
Apart from the usual eatin’ and
drinkin’, the evening was notable for the presentation of
2 awards:
Kevin
D’Arcy >> Young
Footballer of the Year, 2003
John Morrissy >> Knee Man of the Year / Keeper of
the Flame
The intention will be to display many of
the images on the website, but for those who so wish . . . I
will also be making a CD of the collected images available. A
nominal charge (to cover cost of CD purchase) will be
requested.
Watch this space.

day, click on the link to the right.
Some images may take a few moments to
load.

It’s that time of year again folks
-- ‘Party Time’.
Christmas Party Time to be precise.
Drinks, eats, speeches, awards, communal
reconciliations . . . . et al.
Details below:
Latest News:
Last
week saw the first cancellation, due to bad weather, of our
regular pitch in Bushy Park.
Fortunately our ‘2nd ground’
was available. And in very good condition, we might add.
Pretty soon Bushy Park, like all other
Council/public parks, will have all it’s pitches closed
for a 2 month period. We will continue to use our ‘2nd
pitch’.
[If you’re unsure of it’s
location -- send me an email, or contact one of the ‘main
heads’.]
Remember: we make a donation to our hosts
at the end of every match there.
Kick off: 2.30pm.
YES -- you gotta BE THERE by 2.30 pm.
