Secretary’s Report 1999/2000
Following our A.G.M. on 17/1/00 the following committee was elected for the year 1999/2000

Ceoltraí
During the winter of 99/00 branch members were involved in the Comhaltas winter competition – Ceoltraí It is to be noted that interest in the competition has lessened considerably
Sessions
A very successful session was held in Drombana on the 7th of December
A session as also held in Feenagh in March ’00 which again proved quite successful. Local dancers were invited and those involved felt that both exercises were beneficial ones.
Workshops
Workshops on the Fiddle, Flute, Concertina, Banjo, Piano Accordian, Bodhran, and Button Accordian were held in Lisnagry N.S. with the help of parents from the Ahane Class. One again they were enormously successful. We hop to run more in the coming year
Feile Cheoil
Our Annual Feile Cheoil was held in Feenagh in May. Much help was received from the parents of the Feenagh Class. We own them our gratitude. Every effort was made to ensure that all children of all ages from all the classes were involved in an experience, which would prove a positive encounter with music competitions
Fleadhanna Cheoil
Branch Representatives took part the in County, Munster and All-Ireland Fleadhanna Cheoil during the summer of 2000. Groups Un 12, 12-15 and 15-18, Ceilí Bands in all the Age groups qualified for the All-Ireland as well as a number of solo musicians all performed well in Enniscorthy. Our Senior Ceilí Band achieved a remarkable feat during the Summer and became Munster Champions and All Ireland Runners Up

Ceoltraí
During the winter of 1999 the branch
got involved in many musical activities. Representatives took part in a new
Comhltas winter competition Ceoltraí. The Farrissey family of Feenagh and
the Teach Set Dancers went on to represent the branch and county in both the
provincial and All-Ireland competitions.
Sessions
The branch a series of sessions in various centers during the year.
These were held on a non profit making basis. Musicians were invited from
other classes and tea was provided on the night. Very successful sessions
were held in Feenagh , Ahane and in the Teach in Cloverfield.
Workshops
Workshops were held in Banogue N. S. during the Easter. Holidays on the
fiddle, flute, button accordion, Bodhran, piano accordion and banjo. The
branch applied to Limerick County Council arts grant too help cover the
costs of the workshops and were successful in doing so. All the students
involved felt that these workshops were very worthwhile
Féile Cheoil 1999
Our annual Féile Cheoil was held this year in Castleconnell on the
Sunday of the May bank holiday weekend. I wish to extend my gratitude to
parents of the Ahane and Lisnagry classes helped in the organisation of the
féile. Seven venues were in operation on the day and the féile has become
as big as some County Fleadhanna Cheoil. Every effort was made to involve
all children from the classes in an experience, which would prove a positive
encounter with music competitions.
Fleadhanna Cheoil 1999
Branch representatives took part in the County, Munster. and All-lreland
fleadhanna Cheoil during the summer of 1999. Musicians from each class took
part in the U 12 grupai cheoil competition. Two 12-15 and 15-18 groups took
part and one senior. group. Two U 12 and 12-15 ceili bands took part and one
ceili band took part U 12 and in the Seniors competition.
In addition numerous individuals took part in the county fleadh and were prizewinners. In all 5 groups and 4 ceili bands took part in the Munster Fleadh. The 12-15 ceili band and senior group took Munster titles. The U 12 band, 15-18 band and the 15-18 group took 2nd places and the 12-15 groups took 3rd place in their competitions. As in the County Fleadh a number of individuals were successful. All our musicians performed well in Enniscorthy. A number of individuals were prizewinners and to them we offer our- congratulations.
Charity
Under the guidance Jean Kenzie the branch held an enormously successful
charity concert in the Kilmurry Lodge in October. Proceeds went to the
schools in Bawnmore and Lisnagry. Invited guests along with our own
entertainers provided a most enjoyable night. All in the branch were
involved in the selling of tickets and much credit is due to all those who
helped to make the night such a success.
Finally I wish to extend my gratitude to all those who helped in any way during this busy year.
