Callan: to be launched on Frid. 29 Oct. 2010 at KCAT Hall, Progress Report on Church
Roof: part of Church Car Park Closed to
traffic for about 2 more weeks.: Thanks to the wonderful weather over this past week
work is progressing very satisfactorily on the re-roofing project. One could
not ask for more ideal weather conditions. This time last year work was under
way on the roof of As already
posted funerals occurring during the week will take place in Coolagh or Upgrading of central heating system
& new attic insulation: For the past year or more there were problems with the heating the
parish church. After much trial and error the fault was located and then two of
the radiators on the left hand side began to leak. During the week the defunct radiators
were replaced with four new ones, better and more efficient we hope. These are
in addition to most the up-to-date level of attic insulation installed in the
past few weeks in conjunction with the work on the roof. ST.BRIGIDS REUNION; The Leaving
Cert class of 1979 to 1985 at St. Brigid’s College are holding a class and staff reunion on
Saturday 30th October at the New Park Hotel Kilkenny. The evening will start at
7.45pm and after getting to know you again an official photograph will be taken
at 8.30pm followed by a buffet meal at 9pm. The cost for the night is €25 which
is excellent value and it’s a brilliant idea to meet with old class mates who
no doubt are scattered to many parts of the world. Earlier in the day past
pupils have the option of attending the Re-union Mass at the Convent Chapel at
3.30pm followed by refreshments and a tour of St. Brigid’s College. The
organizers need to have numbers by October 16th so if you could reply to

past week, if not for the past year, is a good news one – the remarkable rescue of the trapped Chilean Miners from
their dungeon more than a half mile
below the surface of the earth. It was remarkable combination of human
endurance solidarity and engineering ingenuity. It proved the indomitable
nature of the human spirit and show resilient it can be. It was all the more
remarkable in that every element of the
operation was played out under the uninhibited glare of the world media. Many
of the miners made no secret of how their faith in God helped to keep hope (esperanza) alive. At least one of
them on emerging from the rescue capsule collapsed to his knees in prayer to
thank God for his delivery. I’m sure many books and TV programmes will be made
on this extraordinary
episode. Cardinal Newman, as a result of his recent
beatification, has received great attention lately. It is well deserved.
