This week we look at the top ten signs you've bought a banger when you drive off the car salesman's forecourt.
  1. As you drive it off the lot, you see all the salesmen congratulating each other.
  2. It fails the emissions test even when its not running.
  3. You don't have enough power to get over speed ramps.
  4. Owner's manual includes several prayers.
  5. You leave it parked for several days with the keys in the ignition and nobody takes it.
  6. Digital display indicates number of people now laughing at you.
  7. So-called "decorative floor mats" are just flattened takeaway boxes.
  8. Blinking light on dashboard reads, "Get out of car now!"
  9. A crash helmet is provided.
  10. Car phone has direct line to the AA.

  • In spite of their gruelling live schedule The Frames still managed to find time last week to nip in Windmill Studios in Dublin and record a session for BBC Radio 1ıs The Session N.I. which will be broadcast at the end of August/beginning of September, coinciding with dates that the band will be playing in the north.

  • Only a couple of weeks after Noel Gallagher cited The Frank & Walters as his main inspiration behind getting a band together, it seems that All Saints may be considering recording a track from the Franksı forthcoming album on their next release!
    "The Franks were in the studio in Windmill and All Saints were in at the same time," explained Keith Cullen. "They heard the track 'Paradise' and liked it, and are considering using it on their next album."
  • David Gray was over in New York last week recording a performance for the David Letterman Show which was broadcast in the US last Friday. It will be shown on cable in Europe (weıll let you know when we find out the date.
    In the meantime Davidıs Lost Songs album has already achieved double platinum sales in Ireland after only 3 weeks of sales. White Ladder, meanwhile, has now achieved platinum sales in the UK (300,000) and is currently at 9 times platinum inIreland.
  • Turn have announced that they are in the process of putting together an Irish tour for the end of September. This will come in the midst of a frenzy of live activity in the UK in addition to the release of a new single, "Too Much Make Up" (Infectious), at the beginning of September.
    The bandıs début album is scheduled for release in October.
