The Carrigallen coat
of arms was conceptualized by Canon J A Young and Tony Fahy over
dinner in
The Kilbracken Arms Hotel in 1991. The original design was completed
on a serviette and was first
emblazoned on to the glass lamps outside Corn Mill theatre in
Carrigallen. It has since been
used for stationery, football jerseys, flags and bunting.
It comprises of 4 segments; the mill wheel that stands at the
entrance of the village and is the emblem
of the Corn Mill Theatre; a fish that recognizes the angling qualities
Carrigallen offers; cattle and sheep,
like most Irish villages agricultural was and still is a main
source of employment for some locals, and
finally the bell tower of the Church of Ireland which is visible
from the main street of the village
as you enter from the the cavan road.
