The History of Carrigallen
and it's Parish dates as far back as the Stone Age, between the
year 4
and 15 BC! We know this from the scant remains they left behind
in the form of megalithic tombs
which they built as burial places for their dead. Thankfully the
village and it's people have
progress somewhat since then!
Listed below in sections,
are articles and photographic memories from the earliest days
of
Carrigallen and it's people right up to the end of the 21st century.
Some of these articles are part
of the book,'Carrigallen Parish
- A History' first published in 1996, edited by Carrigallen
natives
Raymond Hackett and Michael Reilly and designed by Design Inc.,
Killegar. The book is available from
Monsignor John A Young, Carrigallen, Co Leitrim, Éire at
a cost of IR Punts £26.00 including
postage and packing.
