Scoil an Athar Tadhg, National School Carraig Na bhFear  was erected in 1974. It was called after a curate in the village of Carraig Na bhFear. The first principal of the school was Mr. Bernard O’ Sullivan he was principal from 1974 until he retired in 1994. The present principal is Mr. Dermot O’ Driscoll. The school has an enrolment of 230 pupils and 10 teaching staff.  It is located at the northern side of the village. It is a modern well-equipped building on a substantial amount of land with plans in place for for development of a new school hall and improved facilities for pupils and teachers.. It shot to fame a number of years ago when pupils, teachers and parents appeared on Echo Island.
