Parren, the unwanted product of
a Cardassian official's misdemenours in an off-world brothel, spent the
early years of his life in an Ophanage run by two unusually gentle Klingons
on Cardassia Prime. Parren's suffering at the hands of discriminating Cardassian
playmates turned his loneliness and isolation into a burning hate for all
Cardassians, and when the Maquis called he left his surgical practice to
take up arms against his father's race, serving as a Field Medic. After
the destruction of the Maquis, Parren, troubled by the scenes he had witnessed
in the field, joined the Federation. He served aboard the USS Arkansaw
as a research assistant for two years, reaching the rank of Lieutenant,
before his medical skills gained him the position of Chief Medical Officer
on the Facsimile, his first senior post.
