Foreword from Principal

It is my great privilege to teach in Castleffrench N.S., and I deeply appreciate the genuine kindness and courtesy shown to me by the school children and parents alike, since I took up duty here in 1975. Their great co-operation and enthusiasm for all aspects of school life have been a great motivating factor for me. Indeed it has been a source of great pride and personal satisfaction for me to witness the many wonderful achievements of the pupils, in the fields of learning, music, sport, drama, quiz etc., over the years. Indeed the pupils from Castleffrench National School, since time immemorial, have had an outstanding reputation for learning and personal ambition and have been great achievers in life. The school curriculum is much changed from the 3R’s of those far off days, when primary education first came to the area. At the moment, the school is gearing itself for this great technological age in which we live by ensuring that its pupils acquire basic computer skills. Much use is made of the video recorder and television as teaching aids. Now the school is "surfing the net" and the pupils are fascinated by sending and receiving e-mail and creating their own website.
