Courtneys - Sandy Bay 1

The picture is of Sandy Bay 1 Caravan Park in The Maharees, Castlegregory, Co. Kerry. This is where I have been staying since the summer of 1971. Sandy Bay 1 is the best caravan park on The Maharees peninsula for a number of reasons: First of all look at the beach infront of Sandy Bay 1. This is a Blue Flag Beach and is a lovely beach to bring the kids for a swim.

• The second reason for Sandy Bay 1 being the best caravan site on The Maharees peninsula is because there is a small but well stocked shop at the entrance to the site.
• Also if you did not feel like cooking dinner there is also a fast food place as part of the shop.
• And you can also wash your clothes in a number of washing machines supplied by Brendan Courtney - the owner of Sandy Bay 1.

Also within five minutes walk from Sandy Bay 1 there is the longest beach in Ireland if you are looking for a good walk - it is 12-15 miles long.
