1951

Our Annual Social was held at The Sportsman’s Inn, Mogeely. Our Chairman, Mr. Michael Leahy, began by welcoming the good attendance to the event. He then went on to welcome the surviving members of the victorious 1951 Junior County Hurling championship side who were able to attend on the night, despite the inclement weather conditions. He then proceeded to make a presentation to each of those present on behalf of the club. He also made a presentation to Mr. Maurice O’Callaghan, who had the honour of being Chairman of the club in 1951. It was great to see Paddy Abernethy(capt), Anthony Brennan, Patrick Morgan in attendance as well as representatives for Garry Fleming, Jackie Whyte and Pakie Dwyer. He also remembered those deceased members of the squad, for whom Mass has been offered by the club. Captain, Paddy Abernethy addressed the gathering, and his speech reflected the manly leadership qualities of the man, as he spoke so highly of his compatriots during that marvellous achievement.

The Chairman then made a special presentation to Mrs Charlotte Carroll to honour the great work she had done over the past 3 years, while serving as treasurer of the club.

The presentations then concluded, and the gathering were entertained for the rest of the evening by the group "Phantom Sound", who again proved to be very well received on the night.
