January 2002

Over 100 people, the biggest crowd ever, took part in this years Joseph Walsh Memorial Long Puck. St Stephen’s day Kilmountain Cross to Castlemartyr is now part of the Christmas ritual and thanks to all who organised this event. On a perfect day for the event and a dry road, a new low score of 50 shots gave victory to the team made up of Jimmy Smiddy Capt. Ultan Murphy and Eoghan Mc Govern.

In second place on 51 shots, were Carey Joyce, Michael John Cremin and John Cosgrave. Three teams tied for third place on 52 shots, so a play off was arranged in the fading light on the Ladysbridge road. Eamon Roche, Brendan Barrett and Sean Bowes emerged as the winners to claim third spot.
