C.C.S. Prestigious Award First place in Ireland .

John Cornwall (5th Year) won first place in Ireland for his Junior Cert. Technology Project. The Awards ceremony took place in the Mullingar Park Hotel on the 24th November. John had already won out in the Regional Final for which he received a Gold Medal. Michelle Higgins came second in the Regional Final (Silver Medal), and James Halligan came third (Silver as well). John and Michelle qualified for the National Finals. The Awards were sponsored by the ETTA, Engineering Technology Teachers Association. John was presented with a Certificate and a Galway Crystal Clock. The Project Design was for an automatic lock, which incorporated a coded security feature. At the same ceremony Michelle Higgins received a Certificate of Distinction in the young Technologist Competition (Junior Cert Level). C.C.S. is justly proud of the achievements of John Michelle and James. Heartiest Congratulations from the Principal, Staff and Students of CCS.

Art News

C.C.S. In the Youth World Ireland Art/Design Competition C.C.S. won all the prizes in all categories for Christmas card design. Congratulations to Lisa Heffernan , Diana Baglaya and Amy Mc Loughlin (Leaving Certs); Elaine Garvey and Nicole Keaveney 2nd years. Their teachers are Ms. Frances Crowe and Ms. Pauline Connaughton. In the Roscommon Herald Calendar competition Helena Doory and Emily Greenwood were selected for their design work to feature in 2 months, March and November. “Coming out of winter darkness into the Spring light” was the theme for March and “Ice Maiden” represented November.

Readoirí

A number of students from CCS recently qualified for the Readoiri Connaught Finals at the end of January. They are Sinead Cahill, Emma McGolderick, Siobhan Igoe and Denise Igoe Musical Group and Siobhan Igoe Musical Solo.
