IFSO Logo - draft for approval

6th April, 2004

IFSO - Irish Free Software Organisation

This design is based upon the uppercase letters from the pre-standardisation Celtic font. The letter 'F' is pulled up from its normal typographic position, to give it prominence and to add something to the visual flow of the logo. The layout of the letters incorporates improvements suggested on the mailing list, and the logo has been re-drawn for a sharper look.

IFSO

The letters have been re-scanned since the original proposals. The initials were positioned according to the revised form of the second Celtic Font logo. They were cleaned up with the GIMP (this took ages), and a monotone black-and-white BMP was produced. This was converted to SVG and EPS with potrace. No further work was needed on the vector graphic output.

I haven't included the full name of the organisation in the large logo, since it will seldom appear in that format, and the text can easily be added to the SVG using Sodipodi should it be needed.

PNG images can be produced from the SVG at any scale required. The EPS is suitable for including in LaTeX documents; I've made up a suggested letterhead, which I use in my draft e-voting letter.

Thanks to the fsfe-ie mailing list for your comments and observations.
