Introduction
Last December the 6th class pupils decided to take part in the
Meet the Musician Project. We decided to record traditional singer Mary Walsh. During the past few weeks we met and discussed how we would organise our work. We divided the questions under different headings e.g. Birth and Family, School, Life after School, Farm Life and Music, Singing and Dancing.
A fortnight before the recording we met Mary. We talked and asked her sample questions in an effort to get to know her.
What follows is an account of the recording with Mary on the 8th of February. We hope you enjoy this project – both the interview and the songs. We certainly enjoyed compiling this information on Mary’s life.
