Friends and Patrons of the Copper Coast

Copper Coast Geopark are now at the second stage of conserving and
renovating the building formerly know as the "Old Church of Ireland"
Monksland, Knockmahon, Bunmahon, which had been neglected and
unloved for so many years that it has been in real danger of falling down.
But now this lovely old landmark is being used its new dual role as a
centre for the communities of the Copper
Coast and the Geopark
office/centre.

So far, the new roof has been built, the vestry restored and an electricity
supply installed. Early 2009, a new floor was laid, making the building
more useable and temporary windows were installed.

Stage 2 will incorporate an extension to the back of the building with toilets,
office, and kitchen and will make the centre more suitable for use in
displaying information of the area with both local history and social history.
Allowing us to create a visitors experience for Tourist, Educational centre for
students and a centre for cultural and social events.

Needless to say, this has involved a huge voluntary effort. However funds are
needed and any funding applied for needs to be matched by local efforts if we
are to complete this project, the aim of which is to benefit the whole Copper
Coast Community.

We are now applying to the relevant agencies for further funding. They
normally use a formula, which is based on fund raising efforts. An example
would be that for every €100 donated locally, €300 becomes available from
the funding agencies.

It isn't all give, because the registered charitable status (No. 16500) of the
Copper Coast Geopark Ltd. it allows income tax to be reclaimed by PAYE
donors and /or corporate donations, although if you feel generous, that can
also be donated.

If you feel you would like to help and get this project finished and become a
"Friend Of The Copper Coast" you can do so by calling to the office, Bank
transaction or  by downloading the form and sending it back to us.
