WWF RAW is WAR Report: 1/29/01

Kurt Angle comes out and says how great it is for him to be in his hometown of Pittsburgh. He says footage from last year off him saying that Mario Lemieux had more courage, he'd come back to play in the NHL. He takes all the credit for Mario's return and says that he will eventually fail in his comeback. He mentions that he's not defending his title tonight, but he will on Smackdown against either Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, The Big Show and, well, it really doesn't matter who else. The Rock comes out on stage and says he needs to correct Angle. That is that Angle had nothing to do with Mario's return and that Angle is not a role-model, but the biggest candy-ass the Rock has ever seen. Rock then shows an old pizza commercial from Pittsburgh starring Angle. Rock tells Angle that he'll win the Fatal Four-Way tonight and he'll whip his candy ass on Smackdown. Then Angle can come back to Pittsburgh and stick a pizza up his candy ass. The Big Show then attacks Rock on the stage and motions to Angle that he'll have the belt.
1st match for the Tag Team titles: The Dudley Boyz (c) v.s. Edge and Christian
Edge and Christian come out dressed in street clothes. Christian says that they can have a rematch whenever they want, but since Edge is sick tonight, they got the Dudley's some other opponents, Kaientai. The Dudley's dominate early and Buh-Buh and Taka start. Buh-Buh with a clothesline and D-Von and Funaki are soon in. D-Von with a powerslam, a body slam and a leg drop. 2 count. Taka with a superkick and Kaientai double team D-Von. D-Von with a reverse DDT to Funaki and both men tag out. Buh-Buh cleans house and Funaki gets a Wazzup Butt from D-Von. They go for a 3-D on Taka, but end up with another double team move. Edge runs in and spears D-Von. Funaki covers, but only gets a 2 count. Funaki then gets 3-D'd and the Dudleys retain the titles.
Winners: The Dudley Boyz by pinfall
Coach asks Vince about the Fatal-Four Way tonight. Vince says if Rock can't go, it will be a Triple Threat match. HHH, Steph and HHH's attorney show up and HHH demands to know where Austin is. Vince tells them to go to their office and cool down.
MC is talking to Billy Gunn. Billy says Chyna is doing alright and that she needs to get her injury off her mind and that no one can stop her from shining.
2nd match: Val Venis w/Steven Richards and Ivory v.s. Steve Blackman
Blackman starts out with a clothesline, a drop toe and a superkick. He knocks Steven Richards off the apron. Val with a back suplex and has control. He sends Blackman outside where Steven gets some cheaps shots in. Back in, Val with a suplex and straps on a submission. Val with a clothesline for a 2 count. Blackman with a suplex, some chops and a belly-to-belly suplex. 2 count. Powerslam to Venis and another 2 count. Steven is distracting Blackman, which allows Val to roll-up him up and get the pin. Steven Richards is brought in the ring and beat up. Soon Bull Buchanan and the Goodfather come down, but so does Hardcore Holly. He sprays everyone with a fire extinguiser and he and Blackman clear the ring.
Winner: Val Venis by pinfall
Vince is talking to someone on a cell phone saying how everyone misses them. William Regal comes in and drops off a spot of tea to help calm Vince down.
We see a highlight package showing Steve Austin and HHH's feud over the past month leading up to tonight's contract signing.
HHH is pacing in his room, yelling at Steph and his attorney.
Austin is talking to Michael Cole and tells him he'll sign the contract tonight and when HHH does, he'll be signing his ass over to him.
Vince comes down to the ring where a table and three leather chairs are set up in the ring for the contract signing. He gets on the mic and says that contract will be signed for the No Mercy match, but the type of match has not been named. In the contract, there is a clause which states if there will be not physical contact before the match takes place between the two parties. If Austin breaks the rule, he'll lose his Wrestlemania title shot and if HHH breaks it, he'll be suspended for 6 months. HHH comes out with Steph and his attorney and the Austin comes down by himself. Austin gets on the table and gives HHH a Stone Cold salute. Austin asks for some beers and then signs the contract. HHH gives the contract to his attorney and they discuss it. He finally signs it and then attacks Austin with a briefcase. He gives Austin a pedigree and Vince tells him he's been suspended. HHH points out that he never signed the contract and then does.
3rd match: The Acolytes v.s. The Hardy Boyz v.s. Right to Censor
The Hardys and the APA brawl in the ring and Lita and Jackie fight on the ramp. Jeff and Bradshaw are in when Bull Buchanan and the Goodfather come down. Matt and Bull are know in and Bull with a clothesline and a backbreaker. 2 count. Matt with a clothesline and he tags in Jeff. Jeff with a leg to the groin of Bull and gets a 2 count. All the other men brawl and Jeff misses the Whisper in the Wind. Bull with an ax-kick, but Bradshaw breaks up the count. Clothesline from Hell to Bull, but Bradshaw gets pulled out and Jeff hits the Swanton Bomb on Bull for the win.
Winners: The Hardy Boyz by pinfall
MC is interviewing the Rock. Rock says he'll be in the match tonight and that The Big Show will have to watch his back tonight.
4th match for the Hardcore title: Raven (c) v.s. Crash
Crash meets him on the ramp, but Raven throws the shopping cart into him. Raven gets whipped into a gate and they fight in the crowd with a trash can. Crash with an ax handle off the staircase and catapults Raven into a CCM sign. 2 count. He chokes Raven with a curtain and they stumble into the concourse. Raven nails Crash with a mop and bucket and Crash whips Raven into a garage door. Crash pushes a cart into Raven and then jumps at him, but goes straight into the wall. They fight outside and Crash with a bulldog onto a park bench. Molly tries to low blow Raven, but gets kicked off and Crash low blows Raven around a tree. The woman in black arrives in a car and hits crash with a 2x4. She then takes out Molly and Raven gets the pin on Crash and leaves in the car.
Winner: Raven by pinfall
Tazz in interviewing Chris Benoit. Benoit says he plans on tearing all three of his opponents tonight in half.
5th match: Undertaker w/Kane v.s. Haku w/Rikishi
Taker with a boot and leg drop for a 2 count. He continues the onslaught with a body slam and an elbow drop for another 2 count. He gets old school on Haku and goes after Rikishi. Haku rolls Taker back in hits some chops and several headbutts. 2 count. Taker with a flying clothesline, a DDT and goes for a Tombstone, but Rikishi distracts him. Kane takes out Rikishi, but Rikishi comes back with a chair to the ribs. In the ring, Taker with a chokeslam to Haku for the win. Rikishi goes after Undertaker and he and Haku each hit him with a chair shot. Taker fights back and Kane comes in and everyone clears out.
Winner: Undertaker by pinfall
KK is with Undertaker and Kane. Taker says there has been to much talk lately and he challenges Haku and Rikishi to a first blood match on Smackdown.
Dean Malenko is at WWF NY and says it has been hard to be apart from Lita and that they will be back together soon and the Hardys will no longer interfere with them.
6th match: Lita v.s. Jacqueline
Ivory is at ringside for commentary with King and JR. Lita with a hurricanrana, but Jackie chokes her on the ropes. Soon both of them spill outside and they attack Ivory. King breaks it up and Ivory runs away.
Winner: No Decision
7th match for the #1 contendership: Chris Jericho v.s. Chris Benoit v.s. The Big Show v.s The Rock
Kurt Angle is at ringside for commentary. Jericho comes down and says that the WWF title has been around Angle's pizza peddling ass for too long and Jericho will never eeeever stop until he gets it.
Benoit and Jericho start until the Show comes out. He headbutts both men and when Rock comes out, meets him with a chokeslam. 2 count. Show throws Benoit outside and hits some chops on Jericho. Jericho jumps off the top rope, but Show catches him and gives him the Final Cut. Rock and Benoit are back, Rock with a flying clothesline and sends Benoit over the top. Benoit works on Rock in the ring and Jericho and Show fight outside. Benoit with a German suplex, but misses the flying headbutt. Rock with a samoan drop for a 2 count. Show in, but Jericho hits him with a missile dropkick and Rock with a DDT. 2 count. Jericho then gets a 2 count before Benoit locks on the crossface. Rock breaks it up and gives Benoit a spinebuster and puts him in the sharpshooter. Jericho breaks it up and hits the Lionsault on Benoit. 2 count. Jericho has the Walls of Jericho on Rock, but Show breaks it up. Benoit with a low blow to Show and Jericho sends both of them outside. Jericho turns around and gets the Rock Bottom from the Rock. Rock wins!
