Celtic Harmony Yoga
The word yoga comes from the
Sanskrit word “yug” or yoke meaning “union”. The union
of body, breath, mind and spirit.
The science of Yoga is a
group of ancient spiritual practices originating in India.
It has been defined as "technologies or disciplines of
asceticism and meditation which are thought to lead to
spiritual experience and profound understanding or insight
into the nature of existence."
Outside India, Yoga is mostly
associated with the practice of asanas (postures) of Hatha
Yoga or as a form of exercise. There are many branches
of Yoga: Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga,
and Raja Yoga.
At Celtic Harmony
Yoga Centre, classes are based on the
teachings of Swami Vishnu-devananda, a
disciple of Swami Sivananda. Hence this practice of
Yoga is termed Sivananda Yoga.
The
course covers the
five basic principles that
could easily be incorporated into one’s lifestyle to provide
the foundation for healthy living.
