DUNDALK FLOPS OF THE 90's

Mistakes we've made

[1] Edwin Van Getrowe = Edwin arrived with a great write up. Top scorer in Holland's first division and he made a couple of fleeting appearances most notably against Galway in a memorable 4-4 draw when he skilfully toe-poked it past the post from 2 yards . Left for Scotland.
[2] Paul Futcher = Paul decided to join Dundalk after we won the league and made 3 appearances for us , 2 against Malmo. To put it in plain terms Paul was old , past his best and here for easy money. Recently seen playing non-league football in England
[3] Cesar Lopez = Arrived at the time of the Malmo match and became a crowd favourite with his dazzling flicks. The crowd urged Kely to bring him on and when he did he was blamed for everything. Has disappeared since leaving Dundalk. Shelbourne fans beware
[4] Jody Byrne = A good keeper everywhere else Byrne had a terrible time at Dundalk suffering a loss of form. Since leaving has returned to haunt us by making some brilliant saves for other clubs. Now with Finn Harps is doing quite well for himself . Good luck to him
[5] Tony Hall = Arrived for a brief trial after leaving Waterford and played in one friendly against Raith Rovers and was useless. Slow , over-rated need I say more. Played with Kilkenny but has left them also. He is probably still on trial at the moment , the question is what sort of trial ?
[6] John Hewitt = John in no uncertain terms was useless in his time as Dundalk manager and player and took the club from championship challengers to relegation candidates. His first job as manager was to reject Ollie Cahill after he came to Dundalk looking for a trial. Need I say more
[7] Chris Malone = Suffered terribly when he joined Dundalk and was released two months later. Now with Longford
[8] Les Fridge = Despite being a great shot shopper Les could not catch a cold [ with a name like that ] . Left us for Scotland but apparently missed the flight. Still he was harshly treated by the scapegoat hunters in the season ticket area.
[9] Nathan Wigg = Signed by Eddie May looked a decent player until Eddie left then his form went into decline and he was eventually released.
[10] Paul Patterson = Another Hewitt flop Paul flattered to deceive and was a bit light weight. Moved back to Scotland and has not been heard of since

There have been many more short visits to Dundalk - Marcus Dailly , Graeme Morrison , John Bagnall , Stephen Douglas , Stephen Gallen , Ian Nesbitt, Warren Patmore , Tony Loughlin but they were all good so why give out about them.I refuse to put in a certain Mr.Carlyle because unlike some of the vultures who support Dundalk I'll stand by him.
