DONS TO DUBLIN

IT'S TIME FOR ACTION

Drastic it may seem but it is tme to take serious action on the proposed relocation of Wimbledon to Dublin. So far this deal has been behind closed doors and all ifs and buts with the odd press release in Tony O Reilly's excuse for a newspaper.

Yet the Dons aren't so confident. Remember Hammam said 21 out of 22 clubs supported the move. Well in his latest ramblings he says the Irish clubs should change their stance. Well if 21 supported it why should they. Oh I know , because Sam Hamman was talking crap just like Eamonn " what's the craic " Dunphy and that plonker from Cork . We need official press releases from clubs with their stance. The sacking/mutual agreement which led to Richardson's departure helps. This means that the two most powerful clubs in the land will be opposed to this move. Richardson will probably end up at Athlone and if he does and the club support the move then chuck them out of the league and bring back St James Gate .

Limerick's Fr. Joe Young has a lot to answer himself for. He says that the Dons school of excellence will produce better young players. U16 champions , U20 third in the world [ further than England ] and U18 in the finals , I think we're doing fine. How would he react if we all went round promoting the Muslim religion. The look on his face when he say it will produce better priests would be priceless .

But seriously both associations should take action. The English FA could ban them from representing them in Europe. UEFA could ban them from European competiton and the Irish Fa could ban all Dons players from playing for Ireland. Maybe if Cunningham went then Hawkins could get a look in but that's a topic for another day.

People abroad think we have no league , no fans , no spirit we need to disprove that. What a chance we have during the World Cup phone ins with Niall and Andy on RTE. See what they know. Write letters to various teletext services cross channel. I wrote to Sky after one fan claimed that no-one would miss the National League if it went out of business. Organise protests after games do anything to show how much we care. What about Aertel ? . Manager of one of top teams in country resigns and it is the 6th [ SIXTH] headline after loads of teeny bopper English football crap. Irish teletext service.

Yet what we need most is a breakaway league. There's no way UCD's fan base or ground is doing us favours because they play on Sunday and are the only game on on Sunday night. We need a breakaway league including Shels , Pats , Bohs , Cork ,Rovers , Waterford , Dundalk , Derry , Finn Harps , Sligo , Bray and Galway . The promoted team from the next Division must have ground regulations to meet with the standard. If you wonder why Drogheda aren't there it's because they have not confirmed their Wimbledon stance. Now that would be progress and shut this media fable up forever.
