The latest movie reviews from Cinemax!

Human Traffic, by Ken McGuire, was given a 5-Star review!

The real story of youth in the nineties: chemicals, clubs, bars, pubs, pushing the vinyl, blagging the guest list, mobile phones, trainers, combats, care-less, mashed, sorted, safe. And it's right here in first time writer-director Justin Kerrigan's "Human Traffic", in all its pupil -dilated, palm-streching, club-hopping glory. At least that's what it says on the back of the box.

But let me tell you now, what you read on the back is nothing towards the comical chaos thats involved in the film. When I first watched it, it reminded me greatly of Trainspotting. Scotland, drugs, chaos, comedy, ups and downs of life, whatever. But this goes beyond the call of Trainspotting and on to a new station. "Human Traffic" is pure class. Quoted as being "chaotically mad comedy", "frank, filthy and very funny" and "the last great film of the nineties", this film stands out as the best youth culture film yet to hit the screens. And its Irish made too.

The film follows the lives of five individuals (Jip, Moff, Koop, Lulu, and Nena) as they prepare for the biggest weekend ever in Cardiff, Wales (hence the tagline "The Weekend Has Landed"). They are about to embark on the biggest spree of Sex, Drugs, Drink and loud music ever. The film, being armed with an 18's cert, does contain a fair amount of foul language, boasts the names of more drugs than people in greater China and provides the greatest touch with some extreme comedy. And it also features tracks from Carl Cox, Jo Brand, Howard Marks, Underworld and much more besides.

I bought the film then last week on PVT from Xtravision and it was the best tenner spent in ages. The film is just so cool. You have to see it, no questions asked. If you liked Trainspotting - even if you didn't - you have to see this film.

With Jip being sexually paranoid, Koop being sexually jealous and Moff being absolutely wasted of the face of the earth for about 98% of the film, you won't be let down. Just sit back, turn up the volume and flow with "Human Traffic". If you are on the look out for any recommendations within the film you should look for the Star Wars scene in the kitchen on the big night. So cool.

If I was to give each of the characters a star then the film would end up with 5. That's what this is in my opinion. A top class film!
