Carol Murphy and Kieran Corcoran opened The Cinnamon Cottage in February 1994. Originally, it was to house a small catering business but it soon found a new focus when they decided to open a food shop specialising in freezer meals and gateaux at the front of the building.Carol is a fully qualified Ballymaloe Chef and within a short time was joined by two more Ballymaloe Chefs Nicola Kingston and Fiona Kearney. Last year Jackie Guiney, a fully qualified Cert Chef joined the team. As each person joined, the shop itself took on another dimension and we are still expanding !
The Cinnamon Cottage is situated on an old crossroads, whereby on one side, there lies a stream surrounded by horsechestnuts and oak trees flagged by rolling fields, and on the other side we are lucky enough to view the inner reaches of Cork Harbour which is a wildlife reserve.
The area, though quite rural, is only minutes from Douglas, Rochestown, Monkstown and Passage. However, the newly built road system means that Wilton, Bishopstown and now Glanmire - with the help of the nearby tunnel - are all only 10 minutes away. You leave the hustle and bustle behind in order to reach us only to find ample parking and relative privacy too.
At The Cinnamon Cottage we believe in the quality of our ingredients. We use only the freshest and seasonally available produce we can find. Many of our recipes, both Irish and European, are traditional and rustic with a modern touch. Modern Life can be stressful and many people find themselves unable to cook proper, nutritious meals every day. From our kitchen, fresh meals are prepared in very limited quantities from the freshest ingredients. This ensures that even if you skip cooking you don't have to compromise on a healthy meal by buying a ready-made meal from us. On full view from our shop,customers can see all our food being freshly prepared in our kitchens (which are fully health board approved).
