Mama Sunshine
By Audrey, Age 9

Mama Sunshine is my friend,
She gives me heat and light.
I love her shiny golden colour
That makes her shine in the sky so bright.

If I could touch Mam Sunshine
I wonder what it would feel like
Would it feel like some soft velvet
Or would it feel like a razor sharp spike?

The shape of my Mama Sunshine
Is very round and circular
She plays a little musical song
That sounds a bit like a ‘purr’.

Noisy Sparkling Sharp
By Lynsey, Age 10

I’m yellow, gold, silver and grey,
You’ll never see me in the day,
Scary and loud
Hiding behind a cloud.

I am lonely because you are afraid.
I’d like to be better
So that you don’t cry.
Please don’t feel me because you might die.

I am scared but don’t you cry.
Go back inside,
I am saying goodbye.

Blue Dreams
By Gemma, Age 10

She is always dancing,
Which makes her very dizzy.
She always makes me tingle
With her excited smile.

She is very beautiful
Wavy and damp,
You cannot feel her tears
Even though she makes me sad.

Crystal Shine
By Amy, Age 9

I love her crystal shine
I really wish it was mine
Its yellow, orange and red
I wish it could be my bed.

The shape of her is very round,
But she hasn’t got a sound-shhh.
She is shaped like a peach,
She’s very hard to reach.

I would really like to find the key
To how to sit upon her knee,
But I’ll never get to go to her
For she’s too far away from me.

She tastes very, very hot,
Like something boilng in a pot.
If I ate her, she’d be very crunchy
And also be very munchy.

Tenderest Tree
By Shauna, Age 9

I love his colour brown
His branches dropping down.
I sit on his arm and watch the sun rise,
I’d love if he had a pair of tingly eyes.

Wind blows and shiver down my spine
But he is the whole world’s, not just mine.
Each day when I come from my home
I climb and comfort him so he is not alone.

Swimming Sea
By Amy, Age 9

The swimming sea she sits all day
Even when the sun goes away.
She lies on the beach all through the night
And gets so cold without her sunlight.

She is blue, green , swirly and white,
Swooshes through the day like a bird in flight,
Whistling, crying, tickling and sighing,
Salty and sea weedy in my mouth, nose and ears.
Wet my hair and fill me with tears.

Sun Shining
By Sarah, Age 10

Shining sun, she is beautiful
If I touched her
She would be a sparling hot surface.

Sometimes she swooshes from side to side,
Sometimes she might go and hide.

When she comes out I jump about
But when she dies at night
I start to cry, drowning in my tears.

I love you shining sun,
I hope you won’t ever die
Will you stay alive?
I give you this loving poem to comfort you.

Tree
By Nicole, Age 10

I am a tree
I am long and brown
I have lots of coloured leaves
Red, green, orange and brown.

Birds like to nest in me.
When it is cold and wet, I blow and whistle
If you taste me I taste like choclate in a bar.

I am kind, sometimes I am loud.
If you see me in the night I am asleep.
Sh, Sh, Shhhh.

I have lots of leaves like them too,
I have to sleep in one place but not in a bed.
I get a fright when lightning comes.

My leaves are dead like flowers
But because I am a tree my new leaves will grow again.

Glitter Sun
By Stacy, Age 10

Me, I am the sun
Golden glitter high in the sky.
A beautiful, big, golden ball shappe
Tasting like orange ice-cream trifle.

Me, I am a very silent star.
I do not whistle or sing.
I feel soft as a fluffy pillow
Staying still as the cool breeze blows by.

Velvet Green
By Shannon, Age 10

Me, I’m green,
I’m aquamarine.
Me, I dance with windy wind,
I hip, hop hip, I swish!
Side to side
And sometimes I hide.

I love Miss Sunshine,
She is my friend.
She shines on the daisies under my bed.
She sleeps on my pillow.

Beautiful White Bird
By Karen, Age 9

Beautiful, white bird, I don’t know how
You keep your feathers so clean,
Because you have to look for food,
And hide from that big bird so mean.

How did you learn to fly so fast?
You look like a flash of lightning
when you come speeding past.
I really like your lovely white feathers.

I love how your yellow parts of feathers sparkle
When the sun shines on your lovely wings.
So white like a little angel
that has floated down from heaven to comfort me.

When I am sad you come to comfort me
And when I am happy, you will play with em.
Her feathers are so soft, you wouldn’t want to let her go.
Until she comes back again.

Enchanting Sea
By Natalie, Age 9

Enchanting sea, that’s me!
Blue, yellow, orange and green.
Come swim in me,
I will fill you with a great feeling.

I taste like lemonade
I like singing through the night.
I sing a lonesome lullaby
to my precious fish,
my shells,
my mermaids,
my moonlight!
