Appreciation of 'Magpie' by Monet

There is a magpie on the gate, which is still. There are some footprints in the snow. The painter uses white, blue, grey, orange, brown and light blue. There are different shades of the same colour in this painting. For example, the blue of the shadow is dark and the blue of the sky is lighter. The gate is slightly open and the trees are moving in the wind. Some trees are very far away and some are in the foreground of the painting. It looks like the artist used a small brush to paint the bird and a bigger brush on the shadows. I think that the artist is trying to say that it is too gold to go out. I think that it is very nice painting and it makes me feel cold!

There is a magpie sitting on a gate in a winter scene. On the ground there is a light green and the frost is glistening on the grass. There is a blue on the roof and the chimney is a light brown. The trees look like they’ve been shaking. It is a frosty cold winter in this painting. It almost looks like an ocean has frozen! I think that the painting shows a really nice winter. I think that it is a happy painting.

The sun has just come out to melt the snow away. There is a lonely magpie sitting on the gate. There are bare trees in the background. There are beautiful colours such as white, pale blue and many shades of brown. There is no movement in this painting. Everything is still. The painting has quite a lonely cold atmosphere. Monet uses small brush strokes for the trees and big strokes for the snow. I think that the artist is trying to tell us that no matter how cold and lonely we are, the snow will clear and things will get better.
