Valentines Dance

by Hannah.

"Dear Diary", these were the first words that Karen McNultie wrote in her brand new diary. She got it for her birthday. It was a furry purple one with furry pink hearts and a lime-green laminated nametag in the centre. Karen loved it! She loved stationary and anything to do with writing. "Dear Diary, it is the 2nd of February. On Valentines Day my school is having a dance and I need a date. I really like this boy called Nathan Rafferty and I would love him to ask me. He’s gorgeous; he has blonde spiked hair and sharp blue eyes. He likes to wear long sleeved tops with short-sleeved open shirts over them. Anyway, that’s all for now, bye!" Karen closed the diary and put it in her drawer.

On the bus to school, Karen looked for Nathan. He was sitting down the back with his friends and laughing. "Hi Nathan", she said as she sat down beside him. So, have you asked anyone to the dance yet?" "No, not yet, but I was wondering if you wanted to go?" Nathan asked stuttering. "Of course!" shrieked Karen. "Ok then see ya." Nathan got off the bus.

When Karen got into school she met up with her friend Sarah. "You’ll never guess who asked me to the dance," Karen screeched hardly getting the words out. "Who?" asked Sarah. "Nathan". "AAAAAAAAAAAA", screamed the two girls together.

After school Karen and Sarah went shopping for dresses. Sarah was going with Nathan’s friend Joe, who asked her last week. Karen went into Top Shop. She saw a lovely cool purple dress that had thin straps and loads of frills at the bottom. There were fuchsia flowers with green sepals dispelled all over it. "I’ve got to have this!" exclaimed Karen running over and grabbing it. "It’s on sale, only €25." Karen bought it straight away. Sarah bought one the same except it was red and had no flowers. Karen got silver, strappy, high-heeled shoes and Sarah got them in black. Then they went to the hairdressers. Karen had waist length brown hair and today she was going to get blonde highlights. Sarah had jet black shoulder length hair and was getting it layered.

It was the night of the dance and Karen was putting on her make-up. She had purple eye-shadow and mascara, lip gloss, foundation and blusher. She had long diamond studded earrings. She had a necklace and bracelet to match. When Nathan arrived at the door he was stunned. "WOW! You look great!" he exclaimed as he kissed her on the cheek. He linked her arm and they set off down the road.

Just as they got to the school fireworks flew up into the sky. "This is going to be the best dance ever," Karen thought to herself as they walked down the hallway.
