Appreciation of 'Windmill' by Monet

On a dull dark day a man is walking up to the windmill. He looks very lonely. The trees and the French flag are blowing in the wind. The colours are dark and dull. He blends them together to make a sad atmosphere. It is a sad painting because the man is on his own. He uses big brush strokes on the sky and small brush strokes everywhere else. I think the artist is trying to tell us that he is sad and lonely. I don’t like this painting because there is little to look at.

There is a man walking to the windmill. There is a French flag flying. The artist uses a lot of dark colours and a few bright colours. He used different shades of green and brown in this painting. The man is moving towards the windmill. The windmill is going round. The windmill is in the background of the painting and there is a house and trees in the foreground. The sky is painted with a big brush and a narrow brush is used for the rest of the painting. The artist is telling us that it’s a cold winter’s day. I feel sad when i look at this painting.
Dionne

It is a kind of dull day in the painting. There is a windmill with two flags flying from it. There is a man walking towards the windmill. The man looks lonely because he is walking on his own. The man and the windmill look small because they are in the distance. The artist uses small strokes in the painting. He uses very small strokes for the trees, table and chairs. The colours in the painting are dark. The artist is trying to say that he was sad and lonely on the day he painted this. I don’t really like this painting. It makes me feel sad.
