The Writing Process

We use the writing process daily. We have writing folders full of ideas, drafts and finished stories and poems. We choose our own topics to write about. We proofread our stories using a writing checklist to help us. We also use the reader response approach where we swap our stories or poems with a classmate and they proofread and advise us on ways to improve our work and they comment on what they like about the story too.

"We write stories about our own ideas. We proof-read our stories or else we get a classmate to proof-read them. Every month we publish our favourite story."
Stacy

"If we read more we become better writers."
Audrey

"The writing process helps to improve our confidence when writing."
Laura

"As the weeks go by we can see an improvement in our writing"
Amy

"Sometimes we use objects to inspire us to write. Once I got a die, a whistle and a packet of flower seeds. I enjoyed writing a story using these objects."
Hannah
