St. Brigid’s Day 2004

At the beginning of February we, 6th class, made St. Brigid’s crosses. St. Brigid made these crosses herself when she didn’t have a crucifix to bless sick people. We made the crosses from rushes. These are reeds of grass that Ms. Crowe got in a field down in Co. Longford. We used pieces of wool to tie the ends of them. Some girls found it easy and some found it difficult but we all got the hang of it in the end. Ms. Crowe and Ms. McGee helped anyone who needed a hand. The crosses turned out great. The brown rushes gave a great effect to the crosses. The room was a mess but we managed to clean it up! The Junior school came walking up the corridor with Mrs. Rahman and admired them. Mrs. Rahman complemented us on our work. We were very pleased.
