Clann na nGael

Player of the Year - 2003

This years Player of the Year has been an inspirational leader on Clann's senior team since the early 1990's.

He arrived on the inter county scene in a blaze of glory, winning an All Star award in his first year in 1991 for his displays which helped Roscommon to an All Ireland Semi final appearance against Meath, a game in which he managed to shackle the scoring threat of the Royal's Bernard Flynn.

He represented club and county with distinction throughout the 1990's, winning five county senior medals, and captaining the club to victory in 1993.

A serious knee injury, sustained in early 2000 brought this inter county career to a pre -mature end, but typically he fought his way back to shine once again in his beloved Clann jersey.

He won his All Star award at Left corner back, and also starred for club and county at centre half back. In recent years he showed his versatility by lining out in the forward line. It is, however, for his outstanding displays at mid field in the year past that we honour our 2003 Player of the year. The Paddy Nicholson Memorial Cup for the Clann na nGael player of the year this year goes to:
