Clann na nGael

Ladies Player of the Year - 2007

Commitment and dedication are two words that would describe this year's "Ladies Player of the Year". At underage levels she has won U-12, U-14, U-16, and Minor championships with Clann. As a 14 year old she was a member of the panel of players who won County and Connacht Intermediate titles in 2002. She has played for Roscommon at underage and senior level. This past year has also seen her represent her province and country in colleges' soccer.

This lady has tremendous leadership qualities and it's no accident that she captains adult teams in both Gaelic Football and Soccer despite being only 19 years old.

While rarely missing training or matches, and if she does, there generally is a sporting reason or another award ceremony for her to go to.

Possessing plenty of skill, strength and speed, she has the ability to read a game, to develop attacks from deep in defence. She's a expert in the black arts of defending, always willing to put her body on the line, one such occasion was in the Forgney Tournament Final, we watched her slide into a goalpost, determined to prevent a goal being scored, she got up a few minutes later to limp on and play her usual brilliant game and captain her team to victory. This past year she has struggled on occasion with injury and illness but has always played on-her motto being that if she can stand up she will play. Her discipline, attitude and will to win are professional like and can be compared to a certain Roy Keane.

It was a mixture of these attributes, her dedication to her fellow team mates and some exceptional performances that ensure that this year's for the Clann na nGael "Ladies Player of the Year” goes to
